Plan ahead: Grand Floral Parade will cause traffic problems

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Rose Festival Grand Floral Parade will make its way through Portland on Saturday morning, which could cause problems if you’re trying to drive across town.

The parade starts at the Memorial Coliseum, works its way down Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd, crosses the Burnside Bridge, then snakes through downtown before ending near Lincoln High School.

The parade route closes at 8 a.m. on the east side of the river and at 9 a.m. on the west side. The parade itself starts at 10 a.m.

Several ramps on and off of I-405, I-84 and I-5 will also be closed before and during the parade:

  • The Rose Quarter (Broadway/Weidler exit 302A) off-ramp from northbound Interstate 5 will be closed from approximately 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • The Rose Quarter/City Center (exit 302A) off-ramp from southbound I-5 will be closed from approximately 9:15 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • The Convention Center/Rose Quarter off-ramp from Interstate 84 westbound will be closed from approximately 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Motorists will be able to use the ramp connecting I-84 westbound to I-5 north during the Convention Center/Rose Quarter ramp closure.
  • The Interstate 405 northbound off-ramp to Salmon Street will be closed from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m.
