Original story...
PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland police said a body was found floating in Johnson Creek Saturday afternoon.
William Sanders spotted the body from a nearby apartment complex west of SE 92nd Avenue just before 1 p.m.
"No mistaking. It was quite obvious it was a body," he said.
Police said the body appears to be an adult, but they are not sure if it is a man or woman.
Officers blocked off the area while homicide detectives and forensic division members investigate.
"It could be a lot of different things," said Sgt. Pete Simpson. "Could be somebody who fell off of the bridge. Could be somebody that walked in the water, suicide, there's a number of different possibilities."
Divers removed the body from the creek at around 3:30 p.m.
An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday.
KATU's Emily Sinovic contributed to this story.
He has been identified, same fellow who was in the news 4 years ago. Â Sad events in his life. Â

Missing man from Portland perhaps?
I hope it's not my ex-wife. Who would I give half my paycheck to?

 @Sarbar The missing dad, perhaps?
 @NGerblansky  @Sarbar They have been told it wasn't him
So creepy when it's literally blocks from home.
How are police "not sure" if it's a man or woman? Â There are a couple of distinguishing characteristics.......
 @Sundowner The body could've been floating in the river for so long that it becomes so horribly decayed that it isn't identifiable.
People need to be warned to stay MILES AWAY from that creek...it's cursed...
 @August100 How so?
i scared it might be fowl play. hope it isn't that missing person
 @Phuzz quackery
 @Phuzz bird play?
So how did your night go.
This is the stuff that IS NOT mentioned in
Portland - The Most Liveable City brochure.
Could it be the missing father/husband? I hate to mention that, but it seems like a possibility. I hope not.
Â
I'm sorry for whoever it turns out to be. So sad.
 @Justanother1 I do not watch commercial TV and just read about this - EXCELLENT CALL!!
 @Justanother1 That was my thought too. Matt McConnell Hegland. We have been searching for him and posting flyers. Matt was last seen Saturday 12/22/12 in N. Portland. Matt is married, and the father of 4. He is approximately 6' tall, blond/brown hair, hazel eyes. Last seen wearing white or green shirt and khakis. He was last seen at the Pier Park Apartments of N. Columbia Blvd. after celebrating a friend's birthday. He didn't have a car with him and may have left on foot or by cab.Call police at (503) 823-4033 with any information.
 @special effects  @Justanother1 I wonder if he fell down over the bluff above the Willamette on a steep side of it.
 @special effects  @Justanother1 They have been told it wasn't him. Â
 @Tragor  @special effects Well, that's good news - I think.  Although it doesn't eliminate their wonder and worry, unfortunately. So sorry for the family that does get the bad news.  Â
 @special effects  @Justanother1 I sure hope not.
well 82nd and flavel is only the center of Portland's prostitution so I would not be surprised.
Must be 92nd and Flavel? Sad. Guess we wait for more details.
Dammit, I knew I left that somewhere. Can I have it back?
