PORTLAND, Ore. – Police arrested a man who they said robbed a Dutch Bros. coffee stand Sunday night and later flagged down an officer claiming he'd been robbed himself.
Officers responded to a reported robbery at the coffee stand located at 13640 S.E. Division Street just after 9:30 p.m.
The suspect implied he had a handgun during the robbery and was seen running eastbound on Division, police said.
About 15 minutes after police cleared the scene, Matthew Stockwell, 23, flagged down an officer claiming he’d been robbed. The officer recognized that Stockwell fit the description of the Dutch Bros. robbery suspect, according to police.
Police said Stockwell admitted he robbed the coffee stand. He was arrested and taken to the Multnomah County Jail where he faces one count of second degree robbery.
Police are asking for the public’s help in locating evidence connected to this robbery case. Investigators believe the suspect discarded an orange zebra print jacket, a dark green jacket, a white bandana and an undisclosed amount of cash proceeds from the robbery. Police believe the items could be in the neighborhood between SE 139th and 145th Avenues.
