Police: Driver fled trooper at 120 mph
ALBANY, Ore. - An 18-year-old Springfield man led police on a 120 mph chase on Interstate 5 before a spike strip punctured one of the fleeing car's tires, Oregon State Police said.
State police arrested Angel Gamaliel Gallo on charges of Felony Attempt to Elude in a Vehicle, Reckless Driving and Recklessly Endangering Another Person. He was also cited for Possession of less than an Ounce of Marijuana.
The incident happened just before 6:30 p.m. Sunday when a state trooper following up on a complaint spotted a 2011 VW Golf with California plates southbound on I-5 near Albany.
When the trooper tried to stop the car, the Golf sped off at 120 mph.
The chase lasted 13 miles until the Golf ran over a spike strip, deflating a tire.
Troopers arrested Gallo.
An 18-year-old passenger was not cited. A trooper gave him a ride home to Eugene.

@john I doubt it.  I have a 96 vw passat and at 75 mine is just getting started they are german cars built for the autobahn  They are geared high so you can drive fast.  Even I was kinda shocked at how fast it can go.

@FreerideNOTÂ ICE and an INS hold are different things...just because they fall into the "illegal immigrant" issue..you want to make them one thing...do some research. Â ICE is a law enforcement specialty....the INS hold is done at the jail after a crime, until that individual can provide citizenship....Doesn't mean he is an illegal.

How about you go to the Linn County jail site and look for his name and you will find an ICE hold at the bottom with NO BAIL.

The perp needs to revisit basic physics to have some idea of the force of him impacting something at 120mph, or even worse, what it would be like to hit an opposing motorist coming at him at about 60-65mph.  In any case, endangering other motorists in this manner is very much not cool at all, and he should have to suffer some significant consequences for this wanton act of recklessness... THEN, be shipped back to the 'donor' nation -- whichever third world hellhole that might be.
