PORTLAND, Ore – A man overdosing on heroin rammed the stolen Ford Mustang he was driving into a police car early Thursday morning in NE Portland, police said.

Alexander Kean Barber, 19, was charged with two counts of second-degree assault; attempt to elude; first-degree criminal mischief; unlawful use of a motor vehicle; possession of a stolen motor vehicle; and reckless driving.

The chase started in Vancouver, and Washington State Patrol Troopers chased the car down I-5 and off an exit into the Northwest Industrial area before hitting a dead end at NE 29th Ave. and Roosevelt.

Police said Barber then turned around and rammed a WSP car, then backed into a driveway where he was boxed in between a trooper’s car and the side of a building.

He was sent to the hospital, where he was treated for the suspected heroin overdose and sent to Multnomah County jail.

A female who was with Barber was released with no charges and given a ride home, police said.
