Police identify suspect in SE Portland shooting

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland police say a man is in custody after a shooting in Southeast Portland Friday morning.

Police arrested Thomas Richard Robertson, 53, on charges of second degree assault.

Police believe Richardson shot Joseph Townsend, 27, in the leg during a fight at S.E. 82nd Avenue and Woodstock Boulevard around 11:15 a.m.

Police learned Robertson ran to a nearby home after the shooting. Officers found him and took him into custody.

Townsend’s injuries were not life-threatening, according to police.

Police say the two men are acquaintances.

The shooting was not gang-related, according to police.
