Police: Man who could not get TV channel threatened station
MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) - Police say a man who was upset he couldn't watch local Fox programming from his satellite TV provider threatened to blow up the KMVU Fox 26 station in Medford and shoot a specific employee.
Police arrested 47-year-old Jeffry Alan Sebastian Wednesday on charges of attempted coercion and harassment.
The Fox affiliate and Dish Network failed to negotiate a deal last month, leading to a blackout.
The Mail Tribune reports Sebastian can watch Fox programs on the jail's TV sets.

Stopped watching the boob tube regularly some time ago and never looked back.
I was a bit offended about financing the delivery of ads to me that I don't want in the first place.
Â
I drop in here to get news when I want it, not just at six and eleven,
and am able to filter out the feel-good fluff stories and I don't miss the giggling, unprofessional news geeks.
I also don't need new car ads repeatedly shouted at me at an increased volume.

Using an effective ad-blocker at katu.com makes the site a bit more palatable.

Why would anybody want to shoot somebody over the garbage they have on TV these days..?!? Â I watch some of the really old sitcoms because I like them... but the newer stuff is just cr*p... I like the online news better than on TV... every once in a while, they'll have an old movie I like... Â but hey; if I didn't have TV at all, I wouldn't really miss it that much... and there's too darned many stupid commercials, anyway...!
I have my favorite movies on either VCR or DVD... Â and if I miss TV that much, I'll get it on my laptop...
@margay1 We don't have it and love it since we can watch what we want anytime we want. We buy movies and the series we like. Did Bones this last year and I only have season 7 to get to catch up on it at this point. I've got Star trek,Movies and some of the series both. The original Battlestar Galatica. Takes time to put some together, but eventually you get there. I asked for Hercules and/or Xena this year for Christmas. Â
Â
But your right, a lot of the stuff on tv isnt worth watching and is total crap..Â
@margay1 Hahaha... I dumped DISH awhile back when they couldn't negotiate with AMC right in the middle of season two of Walking Dead. That's after going through them dumping Fisher. Went a year I think without local channel 2, our very own KATU... Ya know, I only felt I was becoming homicidal when I had to deal with 1-800-India, through the process.
@Lips  @margay1 I hadn't heard that dang it! I liked what I had seen of that series..  Got to see a few at a friends house! I guess it will get put on the to buy list here.
some people simply cannot live without honey boo boo
Why would ANYONE in their right mind want to watch a Fox station?
Â
Oh, wait...he wasn't in his right mind, was he?
"The Mail Tribune reports Sebastian can watch Fox programs on the jail's TV sets." What a joke, the dumbarse is mad because he can't get TV, you arrest him and what, you give him TV!! Who says crime doesn't pay.Â
Maybe he wanted the station as it had a series on the mentally ill??
There's always more than one way to skin a cat!
Lucky for him the gas it would have taken to get the new SWAT vehicle out to Williams (where he lives), was too great.
he was suffering from Faux withdrawal disease
There's a very big difference between local Fox affiliates and Fox News.
Sounds like a case of the genetic stupid/crazy, but the good news is that now he can get his Fox programming at the jail.
Krazy with a K
There's nothing on TV, satellite or otherwise, that's worth getting this worked up over, is there? Â I ask this in all sincerity-- I don't watch TV. Â It's a choice that works for me; I'm not pushing my likes or dislikes on anyone.
@Gravity Works! Exactly why we don't subscribe anymore..  nothing worth it in our opinion! Buy a movie, skip the commercial bs and enjoy! :)
@Khre'Riov Ael i-Mhiessan t'Rllaillieu you know, I don't like cable tv because it is double jeopardy; you pay to have cable every month, yet you also pay by listening to their commercials. When cable first came out MANY YEARS AGO, it was commercial free. I think that as much they make off people they should at least supply a free jar of generic vasaline, that way it doesn't hurt so much when they screw the customer every month.
@iamtroglodite I agree! Not to mention paying more. We had a BUD and paid less direct for the channels. And some of those channels where also free at the time... Like sci-fi.   We paid around 150 a year then and the cable wasn't providing but half the channels up here at over a 200 a year cost. I don't like the fact I can't buy the dish outright and choose who I get my tv from, but they don't have much on tv I want either anymore . Then the commercials where so dam loud. When your deaf and have to turn a movie up to hear it, the commercials where a nightmare.. was glad they finally put a stop to that horse manure.   We just got to the point we buy movies and buy series we like. So nice to watch virtually commercial free!  The dish isn't worth it anymore! I like being able to watch what I want when I want too!
A little extreme there, buddy. We don't need another incident of gunfire.
