Police: Man shot in Vancouver walked a mile to get help
VANCOUVER, Wash. - Vancouver police are looking for a suspect they said robbed, kidnapped and shot an Oregon man in Vancouver before making off with his car early Wednesday morning.
The unidentified 37-year-old victim, who had been shot "at least once" according to police, then walked about a mile through the Shillapoo Wildlife Recreation Area before reaching a group of houseboats.
He knocked on doors at houseboats at Kadow's Caterpillar Island Marina along Lower River Road, asking for help, police said, and was eventually taken to a hospital in serious condition.
Lloyd Kadow, owner of the marina, said the man had been shot six times.
Police said the incident began when the man went to a location in Vancouver where he was kidnapped and brought to Vancouver Lake Park. Once there, he was robbed and shot and police said the suspect drove off in his black 2012 Nissan Sentra.
The car has a temporary license in the window and "Beaverton Nissan" placards in the license plate frames.
Police said they do not think the suspect is a threat to the public and the search for the suspect is ongoing. No suspect description was released.
Police investigators planned to search the area near the marina but said they will wear reflective vests since hunters may be out shooting at birds at the nearby recreation area.
Why was this guy from Oregon going to a location in Vancouver at that time in the morning anyway? makes you wonder what the whole story is.
Hope the man that was shot will recover... also hope they find the car and the bad guy soon..! Â Â
Â
Interesting that whoever did this kidnapped a man, shot him 6 times, then stole his car... but the police don't think the suspect is a threat to the public... Â Do they have reason to think that the 2 men knew each other? Â Â
Guess we'll have to wait a bit to get more info... they probably need to talk with the man who was shot, and he might not be able to do a police interview for a while...
"Police said they do not think the suspect is a threat to the public and the search for the suspect is ongoing"...

What, so does this mean this person was specifically targeted? Drug deal gone bad?
@nerdbyrd And this - "Police said the incident began when the man went to a location in Vancouver where he was kidnapped", makes your theory sound pretty good.
Would it make more sense to have Vancouver finest close the area first then do the investigation? Â This would assure that any information gathered would be accurate and not disturbed by the hunters? Â Or are they going to have little shoot and snoop to pass the day away. Â Don't forget the bbq.Â
 @Saywhat? Sense???
Kidnapped and then shot? looks like the kidnapper is not going to be happy that his prey got a way, he is going to want this victim bad. It will be his undoing.
Scary. I hope the victim makes a full recovery and the police apprehend the suspects quickly. It'll be interesting to learn more detail as the story develops.
Oh, and good to know that the officers are practicing safe investigation techniques with the hunters out there, that's important.
Bizarro. Hope to hear more info at some point. Kidnapping is a whole other level of crazy.
Why can't the damned hunters leave the birds alone, to live???
@felines99  Maybe you could go stand in a field and throw carrots or heads of cabbage into the air for the hunters to shoot.
@HenryBowman  @felines99 Why do hunters have to shoot anything -- why do hunters have to exist??? How greedy and selfish of them to think that for their enjoyment of sport, they have the right to take a life.
@HenryBowman Seriously, you have to ask??? Animals have and use intelligence; plants do not.
@Erich It is a fact that hunting in North America is done mainly for sport, and not to provide food.
@felines Why do people who yank defenseless vegetables out of the ground have to exist? Why do we value the life of a duck over the life of a potato?
@felines99 You ask why? It is so they don't have go down to the local market and buy a chicken or any other kind of meat. Hunting is part of survival. You can have all of my Tofu. I have to assume you're vegan. My Sister will only eat fish, Brother only chicken. I like it all as long as it is not wasted for trophy.
@felines99 coz they taste so good.
People whom invade boats are called "pirates".
