Police: Passenger told driver, 19, to slow down before fatal crash
LONGVIEW, Wash. - Police in Longview, Wash. said a 19-year-old driver died after speeding down a street and losing control of his SUV after his passenger told him to slow down.
Tytus Karametos, 19, of Longview, was declared dead at the scene just before 10 p.m Sunday.
Investigators said the passenger in the Ford Escape, identified as Jacob Millikan, also 19, told them he warned Karametos to slow down, but as he did so, Karametos lost control of the SUV.
Police said Millikan told them Karametos was going 60 to 70 mph down Pennsylvania Street, which has a 25 mph speed limit.
The vehicle skidded, left the roadway and crashed into a tree in the 3300 block of Pennsylvania Street, police said. Investigators said Karametos was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene.
Millikan, whom police said informed them that he was wearing a seat belt, was taken to a local hospital and later released.
No other vehicles were involved. The crash is under investigation.
If none of you personally knew Tytus then I highly suggest if you can't say anything nice, then don't say anything at all. He would've given the shirt off his back for a bum on the street he just met. What he did was reckless and yes, it was stupid. But there's no need to point out the obvious. His family and friends are grieving right now, they don't need to be seeing such negative things said about Ty. He was an awesome friend and overall a great person. I seriously hope none of you have to suffer such a tragic loss only to see that person being ridiculed online. I feel bad that y'all are such hateful people. RIP Tytus, we all love and miss you dearly.
You all can pass as much judgement as you want. Tytus happened to be one of my close friends. It may be easy for you to all sit back and say that its just another stupid kid joy riding and "thank god he killed himself and not the passenger" but have any of you guys thought what you're doing to those that actually care about him. Everyone makes mistakes. Unfortunately all of us do, that's what makes you all human.
To put this in perspective since you all seem its okay to just pass judgement on someone you all have no idea who he was. Tytus was a great guy with the biggest heart. He had that spirit that made anyone's day better no matter what kind of mood you were in. He had such an optimistic out look on his life. He just graduated and wanted to do so much more. Yes, he shouldn't have been driving that fast but I'm sure none of us can say we're perfect and haven't done anything reckless before. This kid would have given the shirt off his back for you in a heart beat if you needed it. You know some of these comments you have made are disgusting making fun of someone who just passed away... shame on you. I know who he was. A great and wonderful person. I hope the next time you decide to pass judgement on someone you know because you think its just another stereotypical situation you never honestly know the whole story. Seriously, shame on all of you making fun of him.
its nice of you to place judgment on something you read  my brother had just  left a few block from the accident he wasnt out joyriding  and  this other kid is just hearsay he may or may have not said slow down we will never know the truth but whos going to admit  that they where all for speeding im sure my brother was driving reckless  there was also a storm that night and i highly doubt from where he left that he waas going 60 to 70 miles an hour do myself and my family a favor and  keep your negative comments to yourself
lets see how many darwin references this thread produces...and as always the "texting and tweeking"..."moms basement", "gene pool"Â and the like.
Forty plus mph over the limit, no seat belt. Hmm. Sure fire Darwin award winner.
Sorry for the family's loss, but at least he didn't take anyone else out.
Darwin Award winner!
This website is great for school closures and other news. But the main reason that I want to share it is because it reports these accidents and shows graphic pictures of them. After reading a few of these reports and seeing the aftermath in the pictures I drive very carefully at all times. I think everyone who drives should see these horrible pictures and maybe young drivers should visit junk yards and see up close what happens when you have an accident. Fortunately there aren't many recent posts but if you go back a week or two you will see what I mean.

Finally a dumbarse takes theirself out and not the passengers. Tragic, but the friend even told him to slow down.
@dkgiovenco Yep I was in a car with 2 other friends. Both of us passengers will yelling at the driver to slow going down Macadam around 70. About 15 seconds later we hit a cement wall spun 2 to 3 times into on coming lane and ended up in the ditch. Everyone was ok but had we not hit a traffic break we all probably would have died in a head on crash.
Â
Also when I learned what a seat belt was for. I had both hands on the back seat head grips and just the force of the spin ripped my hands lose not to mention hitting the ditch.
Holy smokes!!! Glad you are all alright. In other of my post I use the term "school of hard knocks" Well you guys graduated and came out just fine, good for you guys.
Back where I use to live there was a iron railroad trestle right in the middle of the road. Not a year would go by that someone would nail that and get killed. We use to call it the DUI checkpoint.
My heart goes out to the family of the driver who must be devastated. How senseless. Thank goodness no one else was killed from this joyride.
His FB page is full of posts saying how bored he was. What a shame that someone his age was so bored that he felt that driving like a maniac was the only way to feel alive. What a waste of a young life.
60 - 70mph in a 25mph zone and no seatbelt.. Sometimes the penalty for stupidity is death.
Thank goodness he didn't take anyone else with him. * sigh *
"Thank goodness he didn't take anyone else with him"

Too true!
The perfect crime. Â Unfasten the driver's seat belt, grab the wheel, slam the accelerator...
Â
"But I TOLD him to slow down!"
 @Festivus Yikes!!! =/
@badcat Yeah, well, I'm still new to this whole conspiracy theory thing.  I thought I'd toy with it so I could improve my respect on the KATU forums. Â
@Festivus You just made my day.
@Festivus @badcat Ya and I bet obama was behind this !
"Stupid is..."
Â
Sorry for my lack of sympathy...I'm just grateful the passenger survived and no innocent bystander was involved.
