Police: Portland hit-and-run victim dies, driver may face more charges

PORTLAND, Ore. – A man who was struck by a car in a hit-and-run crash in Southeast Portland in February has died, police said.

Gary Horner, 60, was crossing Southeast Division Street a wheelchair when he was hit near 128th Avenue on Feb. 6. Police said Horner was in a marked crosswalk when he was hit.

Horner died on March 12.

Police arrested Rodney Japheth Benjamin Larry, 20, after the crash. He was charged with DUII, hit-and-run and reckless driving.

Larry may face additional charges, police said.

The crash was the fourth traffic-related fatality of 2014, police said. All four crashes involved pedestrians.
