Police: Shooting victim broke up with woman prior to being shot by man
METZGER, Ore. -- New information regarding the man who was shot Thursday morning in the community of Metzger has been released by investigators.
Investigators from the Washington County Criminal Apprehension Unit (CAT) and the US Marshals Oregon Fugitive Task Force identified Jeffrey Sutton, 45, as the one who was allegedly shot by Jeffrey McGregor. Sutton lives with the still-missing Cindy Scarlett at a home near S.W. 80th Avenue and Taylor’s Ferry Road in a section of Washington County between Beaverton and Tigard.
According to investigators, Scarlett and Sutton recently broke up. Scarlett is a person of interest in the case and investigators are still looking for her. McGregor and Scarlett are acquaintances.
Investigators said after McGregor allegedly shot Sutton and fled the scene, Scarlett left the scene at about the same time. Investigators have yet to find the gun McGregor allegedly used and police are concerned McGregor may have hidden it somewhere in the neighborhood while he was leaving the area. Investigators are urging neighbors that there could possibly be a gun in the area and if it is found, not to touch it, but to call 911 immediately.
Sutton is still at OHSU, his condition is not known at this time.
Detectives are still investigating the case. If you have any information regarding this case or the whereabouts of Scarlett, call the Sheriff’s Office at 503-846-2500.
