Police: Suspect cuts in Black Friday line, punches man in face
BEAVERTON, Ore. – Police arrested a Beaverton man who they said cut in line and punched a man in the face outside a Best Buy store on Thanksgiving.
Carlos Gil-Medina, 18, was drunk when he punched a 54-year-old man, police said. The two were in line for an early Black Friday sale.
It happened outside the Best Buy store on Southwest Cascade Avenue at around 10:30 p.m. Thursday.
Police said Gil-Medina was cutting in front of people at the front of the line when the victim asked him to leave. Gil-Medina then punched him in the face, according to Beaverton Police spokesman Mike Rowe.
The victim, who has not been identified, was taken to a hospital for stitches to close a cut on his face.
Gil-Medina was arrested and taken to the Washington County Jail, where he faces charges of assault, disorderly conduct and giving false information to a police officer.
Police said the incident is a good reminder to be patient during the holiday shopping season.

The worst part is there were probably children close by who witnessed this violent act. I hope they throw the book at him. He obviously has other issues that need addressed. I hope the victim recovers fully and quickly.

From his picture, he appears really ticked off. Perhaps he will realize that he royally screwed up. However I doubt it. Cutting in line, especially a "Black Friday" line is hazardous to your health. In the days of the "Gasoline Shortage", some people were armed and ready to keep people from cutting in line.

At the very least you will be paying for the medical care for the guy you hit and it will take you many years to pay it off. Then there may be the civil suit which will get even more from you.
This reminds me of one of the best Rockwood stories ever, which was in the mid-80s when we were camping out in front of the GI Joes for Ozzy/Metallica tickets. I was the only short-haired hesher there but there was a wall jack, and somebody had brought a Marshall combo and so everybody was trading riffs and having a good time until Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park came on (before Wrestling..."Wake up!") and somebody pulled out a little black and white TV. It kind of sucked because there were huge, aromatic sacks of fertilizer stacked near the entrance but everybody was having a great time.
A carload of Darrels showed up at about 6:30 a.m. and backed their Camaro up to the wall, revved up and declared himself the front of the line. He and his friends bullied the few people who protested--we were all much younger--and then they went off to the McDonald's or somewhere. We all got crappy tickets. In the process of ripping open a bag of garden manure and dumping it all over the Darrels' Camaro, about a hundred of Rockwood's least-likely-to-succeed made a mess all over the sidewalk and parking spaces. Nobody wanted to cop to it because, first, you had to clean it up, then you had to pay for it, then you had to deal with the Darrels, but worst of all, you weren't going to get tickets to the Ozzy concert.

In the end just about everybody but Darrel helped sweep up but by then we were all doomed to Lower Level at best, but, you gotta keep the faith. The store manager kicked the Darrels off of the property.

My story is WAY better than reading about some guy getting beat up by a Darrel while a bunch of shoppers stood around and did nothing.Â

Sorry but someone needs to teach people manors. I have had to tell people lots of times to get in the back of the line. Both men and women about equally who think their lives and time are more important then everyone else in the world...

 @Jamie I bought a set of Bose ear buds at Best Buy, they broke and I swung by there to check on the purchase date, turned out they were still in warranty and they exchanged them with a brand new set right there....something to be said for that.
 @deejm2112 There isn't a large profit on items like that. Same for Apple products where the manufacturer sets the price. Not to mention if you had a warranty then they're obliged to honor it -- but that would be the case anywhere you bought them.
