Police: Suspect detained after attacking 2 officers, 3 others

PORTLAND, Ore. – Police detained a man who they said attacked three people and fought with two police officers Saturday morning in Northeast Portland.
Officers responded to a report of an assault at USA Gas, located at 4445 NE Cully Blvd. at around 7:45 a.m.
Police said the suspect, 38-year-old Brian Delashmutt, fought with two officers when they confronted him outside the gas station.
Delashmutt ran away from them and continued to fight for several blocks, according to police.
The officers used pepper spray, batons and Tasers on Delashmutt, but he continued to fight. Additional officers arrived and used their Tasers and more pepper spray on Delashmutt, who then surrendered, police said.
Police learned Delashmutt lived at a mental health facility in the 5700 block of Northeast Prescott Street. Police said he violently attacked a resident at the facility before going to the gas station, where he attacked a customer and employee.
The first two police officers to the scene and the gas station employee were taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.
Delashmutt was also taken to a hospital. He was later released and taken to the Multnomah County Jail.
The Portland Police Bureau will review the use of force by the officers, which is standard procedure.
Delashmutt faces two counts each of Assaulting a Public Safety Officer and Assault in the Fourth Degree, Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree, and three counts of Resisting Arrest.

its to bad they didn't just blow the idiot away. what a waste of space in crowded Pornland
Don't you hate it when people look down their noses at you? Guess the majority of the people reading this article are doing the same to ol' Delashmutt.
@washcomom looks to me he is the one looking down his nose. Looks kinda cocky for someone who just got busted for being a idiot!
Oh come on, with a face like that, he is a really nice guy I bet. Me thinks he is just misunderstood.
 @dkgiovenco He probably didn't get his coffee in the morning. I'm always a little grumpy until that point.
 @Jamie  @dkgiovencoÂ
Grumpy? He's a mutt.
@alohan @Jamie @dkgiovenco Whoa, now! He is no MUTT, he is a Delashmutt. Mutts are cute dogs, Delashmutts are ugly, angry dangerous people.
Another goatee tough guy.

What was this person a Juggernaut? Never underestimate a person just because they seem to have a intellectual divisibility doesn't mean there always weak.
Thankfully the cops didn't shoot him like they usually do in these kinds of altercations.Â
@Kennyboy your an idiot
 @done2010 At least I know how to spell "you're". Â
All things considered, the police were pretty restrained and to be commended for not using lethal force. Â They could have, and it might have been justified too. Â Someone that violent is a situation most of us will never have to deal with.
Another victim attacked by the police state.
@2easy2berightback your an idiuot also
@2easy2berightback ......the suspect lived at a mental health facility. Perhaps they have a room for you.
@2easy2berightback mo-ron.
Isn't the Prescott place a Cascadia BHC facility?
he was cuckoo for cocoa puffs and when the store didn't have any....who can blame him?
Never mind, he's mentally ill. The only charges that will be filed will be against the police.
@Scotty9 how true it is. that group (I HATE THE) Cops Watch ran by that ingrate Dan Handleman will see to that.
