Police arrest Banks High School volunteer for theft

BANKS, Ore. – Police arrested a school volunteer for stealing money from Banks High School.

School administrators told police that Cindy Schorn, 53, was seen on surveillance video stealing money from the school that was supposed to be used for school programs.

Schorn has been a volunteer with the Banks School District for eight years. Administrators told police one of her responsibilities was to collect entry fees to basketball games. Police said Schorn would take money out of the cash box with basketball ticket money and place it in her pocket.

School administrators told police they saw Schorn put the money in her pocket on surveillance video during two different basketball games.

Washington County sheriff’s detectives used enhanced surveillance capabilities and saw Schorn take money out of the cash box and place the money in her pocket for a third time.

On May 13, 2014, Cindy Schorn was issued a criminal citation of arrest for theft. She is scheduled to appear in court on June 12.
