Police arrest man accused of drugging, sexually assaulting women

PORTLAND, ORE. – Police arrested a 43-year-old Portland man accused of drugging and sexually assaulting women.
Detectives arrested Marlin Brandt Pohlman just after midnight Wednesday at the Portland International Airport. Pohlman had just returned from Thailand, police said.
He’s accused of drugging women he knew and sexually assaulting them. Detectives interviewed four women who said they were victimized by Pohlman.
Detectives served a search warrant at his home, in the 7100 block of North Chase Avenue, where they found a possible drug lab, police said.
Pohlman's mother described her son as a hard worker who "seems to have done well in life." Wynema Pohlman said her son called her from jail Wednesday morning, but didn't tell her why he was there.
Pohlman grew up in Oklahoma and worked for Oracle in Campbell, Calif. His mother said Pohlman has dealt with some serious health problems in the last dozen years. She said she knew he was in Thailand because he posted photos of temples on his Facebook page.
Police took Pohlman to the Multnomah County Jail. His bail was set at $2,000,000.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday to face the following charges:
- Kidnapping (1st degree) – 2 counts
- Rape (1st degree) – 2 counts
- Sex abuse (1st degree) – 3 counts
- Causing someone to ingest a controlled substance – 4 counts
- Assault (3rd degree) – 4 counts
- Attempted rape (1st degree) – 2 counts
- Sodomy (3rd degree)
- Reckless endangerment – 4 counts
- Harassment – 4 counts
Police said they don't know for sure what kind of substance Pohlman was allegedly cooking up. The Oregon State Police Lab plans to test the materials.
Detectives are concerned there may be more victims. They ask anyone who has information about Pohlman to call Detective Tracy Chamberlin at 503-823-0400.

It's a rental owned by Phil and Cindy Brooks of Meridian, MS. They bought it in 2010 and will be stuck with a huge cleanup bill at this point.

Most of that is prophylactic in nature. They have no idea what the chemicals are and take every precaution they can.

@TheUglyTruth I don't think the article said he had to drug them to get them over to his house -- sounds like they came willingly.  He's not attractive to me, but he must have been to at least 4 women?
