PORTLAND, Ore. – Police arrested a Portland man who they said threatened officers and tried to grab one of their guns during a struggle Friday.

Police said officers stopped 41-year-old Thomas Roser for riding his bicycle the wrong way down Northwest Everett Street, which is a one-way street. As the two officers were talking with Roser, he said “I got a gun” and made motions toward his waist as if he had a weapon, police said.

Both officers grabbed Roser, who tried to grab one of their holstered guns.

Police arrested Roser and found a knife in a sheath near his right hip. Roser had a federal parole violation warrant for felon in possession of a firearm, police said.

He was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on additional charges of felon in possession of a restricted weapon, menacing, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
