Police arrest naked man walking near Beaverton school

BEAVERTON, Ore. – Police arrested a man who they said was walking naked in front of a Beaverton middle school Wednesday morning.
Police said a school bus driver who was driving a bus with students on board spotted the naked man near Five Oaks Middle School at around 7:15 a.m.
The school was locked to prevent the man from going inside.
Washington County sheriff’s deputies were in the area and found the man near NW 173rd Ave. and Fieldstone St.
Police said 23-year-old Russell David Persons was wearing socks, shoes and a backpack but no clothes.
Persons told police he had just left a friend’s house and he didn’t believe it was a problem that he was naked. He was arrested and taken to the Washington County Jail. He faces a disorderly conduct charge.
Disorderly conduct for being nude? though, he did shoes, sock and a backpack? Where's the "disorder"? Was he pole dancing on a light pole (OUCH!)? Was he doing jumping jacks and people thought he'd hurt himself? I mean, seriously, where's the disorder here?Â
Â
The biggest questions questions I can think of are 1) where was he wearing the sock? 2) was he also naked when he went to the friends house? 3) what did he have in the backpack?
People are so scared of nudity! How silly. It's our natural state. Given that some people you really don't want to see or even imagine nude, our society is too prudish for its own good.
He is probably psychotic. Psychotic people have that kind of episodes pretty often but nobody sees them because they are in mental hospitals.Â
@KT Oh, absolutely. Naked people wearing socks and shoes are obviously psychotic, so they should all be locked up. And remember...under your clothes YOU are NAKED!
Aaagggghhhhhhh!!!!!! (giggle)
Â
Â
I know this dude, and he isn't a bad person he has just lost his way. And hey, the dude likes to be naked.
Exactly. Russel has been a part of my family for years. Not biologically related, but he's always been there, he's always been more fond of being naked than clothed! It's not a problem, he just needs to do it in a more private setting, that's all.
Was he a fan of Randy Travis?
What an idiot. He would have been fine had he been ridding a bicycle, not walking.
@jonsiesd2 He would have been fine in Portland, not Beaverton. In Beaverton, people are not natural. Hmmm...that didn't come out right, but it works. ;-)
He also would have been fine had he told the police officers that he was protesting going back to school, but not everyone makes wise choices all the time, I'm sure you can be a idiot yourself.
I was on that bus.Â
lol gg no re
I think there's a time and place for almost everything... including walking around in one's "birthday suit"... but on the street in front of a middle school when school is in session is not the right time OR place...  Â
Â
This particular young man might have not intended any harm to anyone...but we all know that there are quite a few predators out there whose intentions are NOT innocent or harmless.. and it's often impossible to "tell" who is or is not a predator just by their looks..!  Â
Â
Mr Persons, if nothing else, doesn't exhibit an over-abundance of common sense... Hopefully, he will learn something from this experience...   Â
@margay1 Those predators would probably have their hand in the pants, or if all natural, be shaking themself.
Well Put margay1!! Â I'm wondering why the did not charge him with Indecent Exposure instead of Disorderly Conduct?
@cpt.iceman Because there were probably no children around. How many kids are in elementary school at 07:15 in the morning?
 @SilverGuardianÂ
 @MikeyÂ
@cpt.iceman I admit, that's a point I hadn't thought of....if there's a school bus with passengers, within a school zone, do you have to drop to 20 MPH, or is it only 20 MPH when children are foot on the ground present, or the school in session, or whatever else the school zone signs now say.
Â
@Mikey  @cpt.iceman There WERE children around.  A bus full of children had passed by him. Â
I hope his weiner turns black and falls off. What a waste of skin. Want to be naked? Do it in the woods not in front of a SCHOOL!!!!!
@Goat I'm sure the school blushed. And be careful what you wish for...it may come back to exact a stiff price. (No pun intended.)
 @MikeyÂ
@Goat Goat said what about nudity and woods?
The look on his mug photo explains it all.
Â
I don't a serious problem with human nudity, however in society - you need to choose when / where to engage in such behavior to avoid fallout.
Â
Really, it's not all that difficult to make decent / good decisions. Being naked in front of children is generally frowned upon. And I mean REALLY frowned upon. Essentially 'immediately go to jail' frowned upon.
Â
Persons may have ruined his life, at least for the near future, over such a stupid decision.
The police did him a favor with the disorderly conduct charge. A lot of employers and apartment complexes will shred an application when there is a indecent exposure charge.Â
@Servalowner Why can they do a naked bike ride in PDX with no arrests. I thought in Oregon walking around naked was not illegal unless doing it in a sexually explicit way which is why the nudies in PDX are allowed?
@FreedomRocks  @Servalowner I'm betting it's because he was in close proximity to children (school).
Â
Naked bike rides - okay.
Naked walks in front of children's schools - no okay = cuff 'em Dano!
@Agent Sydney Bristow  @FreedomRocks  @Servalowner I thought the naked bike rides were only done after getting a permit?
@FreedomRocks Selective enforcement?  Probably because on a naked bike ride you pretty much know what you're involved with and know what you'll see. Walking in front of school was just asking for trouble.
Â
People in this country are so uptight about nudity. None of those kids that may have seen the guy are going to be traumatized, but the media and the rest of the uptight idiots want you to believe they're all scared for life.Â
Â
Maybe if there was more openness about nudity people wouldn't act as if the guy walking around with a flame thrower burning up everything in sight.Â
I'll bet his buddies are laughing now.
Way to go buckweat.
His only mistake was to not be riding a bicycle with a pro Obama sticker on it. Nude Bicycle riding is approved of and encouraged by governor Kitzhaber and Sam Adams. So, what's the problem?

@wahoo And if I was a welfare case loser like most liberals are then I'd have time to respond to all of you parasites.;-)
@last boyscout  @wahoo Seems you did just that! LMAO!
And you don't even know what "liberal" means. You really should quit using it.
Use "American" instead.
@last boyscout Do you really need to bring Obama into everything?
@QuandoQuandoQuando  @last boyscout It's a fetish. He probably has Obama sheets on his bed...you know, the ones with a naked full-sized image of Obama on them. No one's perfect.
@QuandoQuandoQuando  @last boyscout Last BS has an agenda. Don't interrupt with foolish questions.
@Old29  @QuandoQuandoQuando  @last boyscout Sorry, it is OLD29 who I should be thanking for the insight.
@Old29  @QuandoQuandoQuando  @last boyscout LOL, BS.  Thank you for explaining that.  Now, I will read your responses without shaking my head and thumping it to make sure I clear out your out of context replies.  I was getting a headache.  I now will know to have my brain simply re-route any information from you into the dump bucket.

@HarryJuku The H with children and protecting them.  Protect ME from driving by naked young bodies.  My heart might palpitate or seize and I might drive straight into a whole busload of kids.
@HarryJuku It should be up to a parent to decide when and how a child learns things like that so no, they should not have it forced in front of their kids if that's what you're making fun of.Â
Middle School! It was near a MiddleSchool. Don't think for 1 minute there is not 1 Kid in a Middle School who allready seen everything that a man or woman has allready. I'll even bet alot of the kids had a laugh and snapped pictures with thier cell phones. Come on marflar kids are more informed todays then thier parents where with the internet access and all..
If the dude wants to be naked, so be it! However, there is time and place for everything. A school yard IS NOT the place for it. FAIL!
@PDXBEAR So now he was in the school yard. Didn't see that in the story. Tell us more!
@PDXBEAR He was walking in front of the school on the street. He wasn't on school grounds at all.
@Freckled_Girl In front of the school is different? This guy is a sicko.
All you guys saying it's legal---that may be true but how about using a little common sense....especially around a GRADE school. How many people do you know who walk around outside naked? This isn't a "nude beach" community last I checked. Be naked in your own backyard away from the public, thank you...
@vwfreak Five Oaks is a Middle School, not a "GRADE school". It says so right up there on the sign.
Whatever, does that make it ok at the MIDDLE school???
As do most GRADE schoolers. That still doesn't justify it. This guy is just an idiot plain and simple who doesn't care what anyone else thinks.
@vwfreak There is always a school, cross walk, road, house, beach, or other area where children are present. At least with a Middle School most of the kids have already gone through sex ed, so at least they know what they are looking at.
@vwfreak The commentary has more to do with the perception of arbitrary enforcement of laws.  Yes, it might not make any common sense, but that's for the legislative branch and voters to decide - not law enforcement.Â
