PORTLAND, Ore. – Police on Monday arrested a man who they said set a string of arson fires in North Portland on Saturday morning.
Richard David Simms, Jr. was arrested after officers reviewed surveillance video, police said. He faces two counts of first-degree arson, three counts of second-degree arson and one count of reckless burning.
There were a total of six fires set: Two houses, two cars, a recycling bin and an abandoned chair in a parking lot. Police said somebody also threw rocks at two car windshields.
All the incidents happened in the area of North Hodge Avenue and Houghton Street to North Portsmouth Avenue and Lombard Street.
Police reviewed surveillance video from one of the homes.
