PORTLAND, Ore. – Police arrested a Portland man who they said robbed a Plaid Pantry convenience store Saturday and repeatedly stabbed the clerk.

Detectives arrested David Lentz, 30, according to police spokesman Robert King. It’s unclear where he was arrested.

Police said Lentz walked into the Plaid Pantry located at 104th and SE Holgate at 1:08 a.m. Saturday. He demanded cash and stabbed 44-year-old Emad Abdelmelek multiple times before fleeing on foot, King said.

Abdelmelek was taken to the hospital. His condition is unclear.

Lentz is being held on a detainer for parole violation at the Multnomah County Detention Center. Police say he will likely be charged with robbery, attempted murder and assault.

Police say tips in response to the $10,000 reward offered by Plaid Pantry did play a role in Lentz’s arrest.
