Wanted Portland sex offender found in Arizona, police say

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland police said a wanted sex offender has been located by law enforcement in Apache Junction, Arizona.
Lawrence David Hendon, 50, has a felony parole violation warrant on an original charge of sex abuse. Hendon was released from prison on Jan. 4, but did not check in with his parole officer or register as a sex offender, according to police.
Police said Hendon's warrant is not extraditable from Arizona.
They have stopped looking for him in North Portland, where they said Hendon was often seen.
He's lucky that the old-school sheriff with the armed community guards didn't find him first, if he had, I don't think they would have asked questions before the guns came out.
This guy is 50 going on 80. Wow, rough life.
If ugly was a crime, he should get the death penalty. Sex offenders should be executed. Period.
They have stopped looking for him in North Portland, where they said Hendon was often seen. These guys are geniuses.
Your Tax Money not working in the IMPOTENT State of Oregon........
@Glenn PierceÂ
 Most Oregon PV warrants are only serviceable inside the State of Oregon. I don't mind though, because it gives pukes like this plenty of motivation to leave the state. Yeah, he still has a warrant, but now he's Arizona's problem, not ours. And better yet, as long as he's in warrant status he can't collect Social Security benefits or many other forms of public assistance. Poor Mr. Hendon will have to figure out how to fend for himself for a change.
Why bother us with telling us he is in Arizona? Oregon won't extradite him back here anyway! He just went down there for some winter sunshine!
You've got to be kidding. Who would want HIM? :-P
That is one scary-looking dude...and he sure looks a he11 of a lot older than 50..! Â Â If he re-offends in the wrong place in AZ, maybe he'll end up in the "tender" care & custody of Sheriff Joe... Â Â
Cut backs are kicking in. The police stop looking for somebody in Arizona
It's the Governor's Office that handles extradition requests! They have always been stingy! Even if the District Attorney requests extradition. Usually, extraditions are only made from neighboring states.Â
The Arizona LE located him doing what? Ugly profiling
@Bert In Apache Junction EVERYBODY looks like that.
This is a great deal for Oregon, he is gone.
The warrant must be a misd. warrant which as a rule non extraditable from other states.
Just think he won't be coming back to Oregon and we don't have taxpayer money used to deal with him.
@FreerideNOT I agree that it is good that he is out of Oregon, as for the warrant that's what you would think isn't it? but the article states "Lawrence David Hendon, 50, has a felony parole violation warrant on an original charge of sex abuse. Hendon was released from prison on Jan. 4, but did not check in with his parole officer or register as a sex offender, according to police." Doesn't make sense to me.Â
Wait... so all you have to do when you're released on parole to be free of Oregon authority is move to Arizona?
How can he be wanted when his warrant is not extraditable from Arizona?
@samsloohouse A lot of states only extradite from surrounding states that share a border with them.
I'm glad I quit paying American taxes 22 years ago.....
I can't move past the eye booger.
@tigress HAHAHAHA!!! Too Funny! Nice catch!
Suffers from acute lead deficiency.
@Jeremy Among other things.

@Dr. Rawdog Nice stir Dr. RD!
@Dr. Rawdog He was released on parole/probation. He violated the conditions of his release so a warrant was issued for his arrest. He probably is offending once again, just in another area of the county.
@Dr. Rawdog He's still breathing
He was released to save money no doubt. That went well.
Ooooh... tough guy.
I hope he is located quickly.
looks like hope and change
Maybe he's in a ditch somewhere
There are hundreds of people who dont show up for parole. Just because he's a sex offender? the chances of him reoffending are incredibly low. How about you post a warning about a drunk driver who just got off his super light sentence of attempted vehicular murder or all the junkies you let out?
@Trickledown Are you serious? The chance of him re-offending are not low, they're quite high actually. Its not like prison cures them of the defect that causes them to do what they do. I don't know what your source is, but I doubt it is correct.
@Kachina@Trickledown Although I would not call it "incredibly low," I also do not think it is "quite high." We do see stories about repeat offenders quite a bit, but when compared to other crimes, sex crimes are relatively low (relatively means, in this context, compared to other crimes). Check this out.Â

@Trickledown It amazes me how many SO sympathizers have crawled out from under the rock on this board lately. Read the drunk driver stories. They take verbal bashings by the readers too. Get over your sensitivity issue.
