Police have sketch of PSU sex assault suspect

PORTLAND, Ore. – Police released a sketch of the man they said sexually assaulted a woman near Portland State University.

The 27-year-old victim told police she was walking to her dorm room at PSU early Monday morning when a man started following. Police said the suspect then hit her over the head.

The woman said she woke up in an alley behind her dorm at SW 10th and Market. She had been sexually assaulted.

Police said the assault happened sometime between 2:30 and 3:00 a.m.

The victim was taken to the hospital and later released. She is a student at PSU.

Police said the suspect is a white man in his mid-30s, about six feet tall. Police said he weighs around 180 pounds, has shaggy light brown hair, rough hands and pronounced cheekbones.

The victim said the suspect smelled like sawdust and was very twitchy, as if he was under the influence of something, according to police spokesman Sgt. Pete Simpson.

Officers with dogs searched the area but could not find the suspect.
