Police identify man shot and killed during argument in Aloha
ALOHA, Ore. – Police have identified the man who was killed in a shooting Tuesday night, and while investigators know who the shooter is, they haven't arrested him.
Police said 24-year-old Forest Alig was killed in the street during an argument with another man in the 18000 block of Southwest Rosa.
According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, the shooter is being cooperative but deputies won't say why he's not in custody and they won't release his name.
Investigators said they're trying to determine if Alig was armed. Alig's father told KATU News that he doesn't know much about what happened either – just that his son is dead.
Investigators say the 41-year-old shooter lives in the Aloha neighborhood where he fired at least one gunshot, killing Alig.
They say the two were strangers and got into an argument but why Alig was there or what they argued about is still unclear.
One person who lives near the shooting said deputies told her it was the shooter who called 911. Investigators have not confirmed that detail but said they are confident about who fired the shot that killed Alig.
You can also look him up at rosecityfuneralhome.com in obituaries. Under forest fugere. and write in his book.
I know the guy that was with him that is 41 years old. He goes by steve i was told by someone else that his real name is david, this guy named steve aka david is lying and telling different stories to people, he told me he was feet from him and watched him dye. He told forests family that he was no where around. He is telling different stories to people. I was also told that steve aka david is a nark. Or a C.I which would explain why he is not in jail still. Steve which is the same age is the only person said to be with him. What are the chances that another guy 41 years old shot him? Not very high. Don't trust or believe anything that steve aka david says he is lying to people and is a nark. No one hang out with him cause im pretty sure he killed my good friend Forest.
The details will all come out in time. Patience is a virtue. Practice it.
In the "good old days" people would get into a fist fight when they had a dispute or they would leave the scene. Now it seems like too many people either carry guns or have ready access to them and so they just open up and shoot. It is too easy to use deadly force. This may be an example of that.
 @travelingsages In the good ole days I am sure even more people had guns then now percentage wise to hunt and protect. What they did not have is 30 years of glorified violence on TV and video games showing them that the first response to conflict should be an armed one.
Â
Not that I am against that I watch and play both myself just saying those more easily influenced or not as bright jump to what they know when trouble starts.
Â
As a CHL holder i carry 24x7 for the reasons Ralph stated. A 165" man against one or more muscled 220"Â men is not going to be much of a contest unless you happen to be highly trained in hand to hand combat and get lucky.
 @travelingsagesÂ
In the "good old days" the weaker person got the crap beat out of them and the strong ruled. Now the strong are no longer in control because the weak and frail are made equal with a firearm.
Â
Would you like to go back to the "good old days" when roving bands of strong mean would ride into a village and kill, rape and plunder the weaker people just because they could due to their strength?
Â
I remember villages in Bolivia that were constantly attacked by rebels. The government armed and trained all the citizens to use guns and the rebel attacks after a few battles where many rebels died. The women were no longer raped and their food supplies were no longer "confiscated".Â
Guessing the shooter felt threatened in some way. Â Too bad, such a young man, but obviously made a mistake somewhere.
 @Grammy54 "Obviously?"
Â
Really?Â
Â
I don't think anything is "obvious" at this point, if all you have to go on is what's written here. In fact, I find it very interesting that you would make an immediate assumption in favor of the shooter. It may turn out that in fact Forest did make a terrible mistake and your assumption is correct. Either way, however, I can't help but think you should self-evaluate a bit to figure out why you would make such a rash assumption. Is it perhaps related to some right-wing brainwashing in regards to the George Zimmerman case, I wonder?  Hrmmm...
 @brautigan  @Grammy54 I have to agree that there still isn't much on this case.  I've looked at all the news sites and nothing much has been released about it.
Shot to death in an "argument" and no arrest or release of name? Wow.Â
Â
Something is up here -- more info pls.
Â
And, of course, RIP, Forest Alig.
 @brautigan Washing County works kinda slow but it would be nice to know if it was self defense or not.
 @MFMFIM  @brautiganÂ
Â
Yes, please Washington County speed up your investigation so we can satisfy our "need" to know. After all, the integrity of the investigation and the rights of the suspects and victims are secondary to our need to know.
 @Scotty9  @MFMFIM  @brautigan Well done with the tongue in cheek comment.
I'm sorry, Washington County. Â This spell checker sucks.
