Police identify man killed in Glisan Street shooting
PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland police said they found a man dead after responding to a report of a shooting in the Montavilla Neighborhood Monday night.
Police said the call came in just before 8 p.m. to report a shooting at Northeast 92nd Place and Glisan Street. Multiple gunshots were reported and a man was found dead.
On Tuesday, police identified the victim as Durell Gee Davis, 42. They said an autopsy showed he died of a gunshot wound.
Police blocked off a large section of the area while they conducted their investigation and closed Glisan from 88th to the Interstate 205 overpass. Officers searched for clues in the pouring rain using flashlights.
Neighbor Tom Murphy said the situation was pretty chaotic.
"We were on my top deck of my apartment and seen two people run by - and don't think much about that - and three other people came running by and it was like, I better see what's going on," he said.
Murphy said people were coming from a nearby bar. Police said that while Davis was found dead not far from the bar, they don't know if there's any connection to the business.
Police looked for a suspect but didn't find one.
They don't have a suspect description and they said they didn't find a gun. Police did not say if they thought the shooting was gang-related.
Police ask that anyone with information call Detective Mark Slater at 503-823-9319, or Detective Erik Kammerer at 503-823-0762. Tips can be submitted anonymously.
Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information, reported to Crime Stoppers, that leads to an arrest in this case, or any unsolved felony, and you can remain anonymous.
gang or drug realted?
KATU - Please pay attention to your writing. The man "died", not "did"! My condolences to his family.
And they did have a chance to correct the typo since the story was "updated".Â
 @jpk Thanks for the heads up. Now corrected.
Â
Wow! Originally they thought the victim was between 18-20 years of age ..... but he was 42?Â

The tavern at the top of the hill and a shooting at the same intersection? Gotta wonder...
@whirledworld The Tavern and the shooting are both in this story. Are you confusing the hit and run that happened about 30 blocks away with this story and wondering if the two are connected?
 @whirledworld what at the tavern at the top of the hill? what happened?
Â
That part of Portland is going to hell with the quickness. I used to live around 60th & Glisan, and it wasn't like this, even just a few years ago. It's being de-gentrified at a rapid rate.
 @badcat That's over 30 blocks away. Â
 @badcat But at least we have cool bike paths.
Shootings in NE isn't news anymore. It's an everyday occurrence. And let me take a guess...........gang related?
 @Rob C 503 Ya there's like 20 a day in Brooklyn.
@on shing dao .......you should move there.
@ Playanekes Rob C is insinuating on shing dao should put himself at greater risk. That is, move to a more violent city. You should try reading for comprehension sometime...
@on shing dao @Rob C 503 you make assumptions about how people vote. Rob's simply telling you you should move to Brooklyn. Try reading for comprehension sometime.
 @Rob C 503 I do live here. Otherwise I wouldn't of said it. I don't make assumptions about places I don't live in.Â
Just drove through there. Cops and firetrucks all along glisan from 60th to the shooting scene. Traffic is a mess.
And I'll comment when you have more information available, also!
@jpk is that interesting?
