Police investigating suspicious death in Silverton

SILVERTON, Ore. -- Police are investigating a suspicious death in Silverton after a father called 911, saying he'd found his son dead in a pool of blood.

The Marion County District Attorney's office says police officers responded to the home at 218 Olson Road, and found the body of Jeffrey Lamoreaux. Investigators then concluded the death was suspicious.

Neighbors say the victim's father knocked on their door around five o'clock Monday afternoon, and asked to call 911. They say he appeared shaken, and asked 911 dispatchers to send police and the coroner.

"I'm sure he was in shock, distraught," his neighbor, Noemi Knutson, told KATU . She and another neighbor helped the victim's father walk back to his house, and says she looked in the window and saw Lamoreaux's body in the kitchen, lying in a pool of blood.

An autopsy will be performed sometime Tuesday. The Marion County Sheriff's Homicide Assault Response Team and Oregon State Police forensics experts are assisting with the investigation.

Police have not released Lamoreaux's age or any further details into why his death is suspicious.
