Police looking for 15-year-old runaway in Cowlitz County

KELSO, Wash. – The Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office is looking for a 15-year-old boy after he left a note for his parents, saying he was going camping for a week and not to look for him.

Evan Byman's parents called police Monday morning just before six after they found the note that stated he was going camping in the woods nearby.

Investigators consider the boy a runaway and believe he is in the Eufala Heights and Harmony Creek areas.

Searchers couldn't find the boy after searching Monday. They say they'll resume looking for him Tuesday morning.

Byman is described as being 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 145 pounds. He has shaved blond hair and blue eyes.

Police don’t know exactly what he's wearing but believe he is wearing black rubber boots, carrying a 12-gauge shotgun and has a sleeping bag with little food and water.

Anyone who has information about Byman's whereabouts is asked to call 911 or if they want to remain anonymous they can call Crime Stoppers at 360-577-1206.
