VANCOUVER, Wash. - Police say the body of the man discovered near Vancouver Lake Friday was a victim of homicide and have arrested a suspect in the case.

Police arrested 19-year-old Vancouver resident Matthew Starr and accused him of killing 25-year-old Joshua Schenk of Vancouver.

Schenk’s body was discovered past the end of Erwin O Rieger Memorial Highway.

Police quickly identified Starr as the suspect and interviewed him.

Schenk's family released a statement Sunday about him saying, "Joshua, from the very beginning was a loving, kind, and gentle spirit that radiated so much positive energy. He meant the world to our family and those who loved him and we will miss him for the rest of our lives."

Police have not released how they believe Schenk was killed.
