PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland police are asking for the public’s help finding a 17-year-old girl who ran away from her home with her 1-year-old son early Thursday morning.

Samantha Jean Williamson, who is a ward of the state, left her residential facility in the 2600 block of Northwest Alexandria Avenue just after midnight, police said.

Police say they are concerned about the safety of Williamson and her baby due to their young ages.

Williamson is described as 5-foot-9, 190 pounds, with red hair that is shaved on the sides of her head. Police do not have a clothing description for her or her son.

Police say they are no longer actively searching for the pair, but they want the public to keep an eye out for them.

Early Thursday, police looked for Williamson and her son from the air. Multnomah County Search and Rescue joined the search.

Anyone who sees Williamson and her child are asked to call 911. Anyone with non-emergency information is asked to call Detective Lori Fonken at 503-823-1081.
