Police: Robbery suspect fires shots at bar, gets no money

PORTLAND, Ore. – Police are looking for a man who they said robbed a Portland bar at gunpoint early Monday morning.

The suspect fired two shots outside the bar, but ran off without any money, police said.

It happened at The Daily Planet, located at 11312 SE Powell Blvd., just before 4 a.m., according to police.

The bartender told police that he closed up the bar and was walking to his car when the suspect approached him with a handgun and demanded he go back and open it.

Police said the suspect fired a shot while the bartender struggled to open the door and fired a second shot when the door was opened.

The bartender was not hurt.

The suspect was described as a white man in his 20s who is 5’10’’ tall with a slender build. He was wearing a black and gray checkered shirt and a mask.

The suspect was last seen running east on Powell. Police searched the neighborhood but could not find him.
