PORTLAND, Ore. – Police are looking for a suspect after a woman said she was grabbed while walking in the Hoyt Arboretum Sunday morning.
Police said the victim told them the suspect followed her from the parking lot on SW Fairview and grabbed her by the neck as she was walking in the park.
The woman screamed and fought back, police said. A witness to the attack gave chase but did not catch the man.
He is described as a white male in his 30s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, medium build with crew-cut brown hair and acne. He was wearing a navy blue long-sleeve shirt, tan long pants and hiking boots.
Police said he fled in the direction of the Vietnam Veteran Memorial in Washington Park, which is located near the Hoyt Arboretum.
Police searched the area with canine units and on ATVs but the suspect was not found.
the ppb needs to have some guys go undercover dressed as females and catch these pervs. imagine the guy getting slamed on the ground by a six foot red head
The perp probably went back to his squatters camp in Forest Park.
Pretty bold. I run on Wildwood all the time and would have enjoyed the opportunity to be within reach of this creep.
There has been so much lawlessness and violence in the news lately. I'm glad to hear that, not only did the lady in this story fight back, but that there was a real Man on the scene who tried to apprehend the creep. We don't know if the perp was simply copping a feel, or was perhaps trying to rape the woman...but, no matter the motive, there's no excuse for this behavior. Maybe if more people strike back like we see here, crime rates will actually go down. (We can hope, at least!)
