LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. – Police fired tear gas into an apartment and took four men into custody after a standoff in Lake Oswego Saturday afternoon.
It started with a domestic violence call Saturday morning, according to Lake Oswego Police Captain Dale Jorgenson. A couple got into an altercation at the apartment, located near 2nd Street and D Avenue. The woman left and called police.
The man barricaded himself in the apartment, Jorgenson said. Police tried to breach the door, but could not get inside.
A Clackamas County SWAT team arrived at the scene at around 11 a.m. They fired tear gas into the apartment and the man surrendered at around 2:15 p.m. He was identified as 35-year-old Christopher McRae.
Police took three other men into custody at the apartment. Two were wanted on unrelated warrants, Jorgensen said. One was released.
Police arrested McRae. He faces charges of assault, menacing, strangulation and kidnapping (2nd degree).
