PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland firefighters rescued a woman who was hit by a van and trapped under the vehicle Tuesday morning.

Fire crews were called to Northeast Glisan Street and 65th Avenue at 8:40 a.m.

Crews found a 50-year-old woman trapped under a van when they arrived. An off-duty firefighter was comforting the woman and giving medical aid, according to Portland Fire and Rescue spokesman Rich Chatman.

Firefighters freed the woman and medics took her to OSHU. Her condition is unknown.

Witnesses told firefighters that it appeared the driver of the van did not see the woman and backed into her.

The woman’s name has not been released.
