Missing 10-year-old girl found safe, police say
Ember Kimball.

UPDATE: Police say 10-year-old Ember Kimball has returned home and is safe.

Original story:

PORTLAND, Ore. – Police are looking for a 10-year-old girl who they believe ran off on her own.

Police don’t expect any foul play, but they say Ember Kimball is considered vulnerable due to her young age. She was last seen in the 16400 block of Southeast High Meadow Loop at about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Police activated a reverse phone emergency system, which will send out automated messages to alert residents and businesses in the area about the missing girl.

Kimball is 4 feet 5 inches tall and weighs about 60 pounds. She has straight, shoulder-length brown hair and hazel eyes.

She was last seen wearing a ¼ sleeve-length, white T-shirt with faded writing. She was wearing gray leggings and may be wearing or carrying a red cape. Police said she left with a blue backpack with stars on it. It was packed full.

Anyone who knows of Ember's whereabouts is asked to immediately call 9-1-1. Anyone with additional, non-emergency information about this case is asked to contact Detective Mike Weinstein, at (503) 823-0446 or Mike.Weinstein@PortlandOregon.gov.
