NORTH PLAINS, Ore. – A pregnant woman and a boy were hurt when their car slid off an icy road and down an embankment Friday morning near North Plains.

Hillsboro Fire spokesman Bruce Montgomery said the two suffered minor injuries.

The crash happened along NW Moreland Road around 9:15 a.m.

Firefighters helped to get the woman, who is seven months pregnant, out of the car. Medics took her and the boy to a hospital.

Lt. Steve Alexander with the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office said the car slid on the icy road before crashing down the embankment and hitting a tree.

The driver was not hurt. Alexander said the three are family members from Portland. Their names were not released.

Correction: An earlier version incorrectly stated the woman was cut out of the car.
