Pregnant woman, children rescued from car after crash into ravine
BRUSH PRAIRIE, Wash. – A pregnant woman is recovering in a hospital after her car rolled 75 feet into a ravine near Brush Prairie Friday evening.
The woman's two children, ages 3 and 5, were also inside the car.
Rescue crews arrived at the scene near Westerholm Rd. just after 7 p.m.
Firefighters said people who saw the crash helped get the woman’s children out of the car, but they could not get her out. Rescue crews broke through the car’s rear window and top to get her out safely.
The woman and her children were taken to Peacehealth Southwest Washington Medical Center. Doctors said the woman, who is 8 months pregnant, and her baby should be fine. Her children's injuries were minor, according to the Clark County Sheriff's Office.
It's unclear what caused the crash. Taelor Kennedy works nearby at Alderbrook Park and said she thinks a huge glare caused the woman to drive off the road.
"If you leave here between like 6 and 7 the sun is right there, so she just got sun-spotted I guess," said Kennedy.
Kennedy said she spoke to the woman's father at the crash scene Saturday morning. He told her his daughter said she just couldn't see. He had his two grandsons with him, Kennedy said.
"I'm just glad she's okay," Kennedy said. "That jeep took a hit, but I guess it's a good car!"
I am glad no serious injuries. Great job to the rescue crew and the witnesses that helped before rescue team arrived. Â I hope they all fully recover quickly.Â
Aside from my rant based in frustration with current reporting policy ( Obama is destroying MY country, but YOU will never cover any of it!!! ) MAJOR KUDOS to my brother and sister firefighter/EMT/paramedics. Very well done!!!
Â
@KantiWhiteWolf I wouldn't be at all surprised if your brother and sister don't want to claim you as a relative. Kind of like the Black Sheep in the family, the skeleton in the closet - the family secret about one of their own who's nuts; because sweetie, you are totally off your rocker!
So, as unreasonably nosey as the press is, YOU, AT KATU, couldn't ask what the rescue device is. "some kind of...device" ... dumb butt ... IT'S CALLED AÂ LITTER!!! I am so sick of media incompetence!!! I thought some command of the English language and a desire to report the TRUTH were prerequesites to being a NEWS reporter. Thanks for FAILING MISERABLY!!!
 @KantiWhiteWolf get a grip . . .really!?
