Report: Holt, Heichel attended same church
»Play Video
GRESHAM, Ore. – The man accused of murdering Whitney Heichel was a member of her church.
Jonathan Holt and Whitney Heichel attended the same Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall in Gresham, ABC News confirmed.
Holt and Heichel also lived in the same Gresham apartment complex, where Holt lived with his wife.
In an interview with ABC News, Whitney's husband Clint Heichel said he helped Holt jump-start his motorcycle recently and they looked after Holt's cats and plants when the Holts were away.
Holt was moved to the Clackamas County Jail Sunday. He is expected to appear by video in court Monday at 3 p.m. to face aggravated murder charges.
Witness Kingdom Hall in Gresham issued a statement saying they were "shocked" to find out Holt had been accused of the crime and that he was an "irregular" attendee at meetings. "We had no indications that would lead us, prior to this event that he would be capable of being involved in what is alleged to have happened," the statement read in part. >>>Read the full statement
His parents did not answer the door at their Northeast Portland home Sunday. Their neighbor, Vincent Wilson, said he’s known Holt since he was seven years old.
Wilson said he noticed Holt visiting his parents a week ago.
“Something snapped or something,” Wilson said. "If it’s true, it’s like something that nobody expects of anybody."
Holt grew up in East Portland and attended school in the Parkrose School District. He was married in 2010, KATU News learned. His wife’s Facebook page was taken down shortly after Holt’s arrest.
“I feel for the girl and her family and everything,” Wilson said. “It’s a loss for everybody.”
Holt was transferred from Multnomah County to Clackamas County on Sunday. The case will be prosecuted in the county where the murder took place, police said.
On Monday, the Dutch Brothers coffee chain said they would donate half of their proceeds from sales in Gresham and Southeast Portland locations to the Heichel family so Whitney could be properly memorialized.
"Dutch Bros. of SE Portland is owned by Joe Brown, who says he knew the family and wants to try to help in any way he possibly can," a post from the company said. Whitney was an employee at rival Starbucks but her sister works at a Dutch Brothers location in Gresham.
Starbucks employees said they will donate their tips from the weekend to the Heichel family.
Another coffee vendor, Realtime Roasters in Gresham, where Whitney had applied to work, raised more than $500 for her family over the weekend.
Statement from Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall in Gresham:
We were completely shocked to find out that Jonathan Holt, an irregular attendee of our meetings, was arrested and would be in any way tied to this case as a suspect. Jehovah’s Witness regard life as precious, a gift from God. We had no indications that would lead us, prior to this event that he would be capable of being involved in what is alleged to have happened. We have no knowledge of the events that led up to what took place with the disappearance of Whitney and know none of the details of what took place after her abduction. We will await the authorities’ investigation, and fully cooperate with them as they work through this numbing and disturbing case. Our local congregations especially feel the pain. So many families have been severely impacted by this senseless act of violence committed against our daughter, sister, and friend. Jonathans wife is too an innocent victim, and our love and support is as strong for her and her family. It will take a long time for her to heal. With God’s help, and assistance from our brothers and sisters, we will recover and use our experience to help others.
So, nine days goes by and not one JW comments, sends love, well wishes, anything. It is absolutely trannsparent how they truly feel about anyone not of their 'religion'.Â
Â
Disgusting behavior. Especially considering how the world poured themselves out to THE HEICHELS FAMILY AND COMMUNITY.
Â
And now there is another cases of dead kids. No, not WATCHTOWER KIDS, but kids, nonetheless:
Â
And how many jws will be there for these families and members of the community, in the SAME CAPACITY MANY WERE THERE FOR YOU?
Â
YOU TRULY SHOULD FEEL ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES. ESPECIALLY CLINT AND LORILEE.
Â
I am profoundly dissapointed in how you actually, factually treat people, by your negligence in even posting a comment of concern.
Â
And you wonder why you are so-called 'persecuted'. You get what you give.
Â
Â
So, a cover up starts.
Acover up of what? You do know JW's very well do you?
I have direct information that Jonathan Holt was not reproved. Â He stepped down from being an MS after his "episode" last year. Â He had not attended meetings the past few months and his wife was getting ready to seperate from him. Â This info comes from someone in the same cong. who will not be identified. Â They read letters in all the congs telling ones to not be interviewed by media and refer all questions to the family spokesman. Â The branch sent out 2 brothers to do comfort the cong (do damage control) and the District Overseer conducted the Memorial Service on Saturday. Â All this is from reliable source.

By the way, has any Jehovah's Witness on this forum or any other forum related to this tragedy, been to the forums to express your sympathies to the family in NY that just lost their children by the hands of their nanny?

Â
I imagine most here already know what Jehovah's Witnesses think of this story and all involved; as these people have nothing to do with your religion. Yet, many have nothing to do with your religion on these forums for WHITNEY, and look at the phenomenal response of the nation.  A nation of people you speak of in your literature and from the podium as evil and deserving of "armageddon at the hands of Jehovah". [It is for this fact, many know how WHITNEYS MOTHER/FAMILY TRULY FEELS ABOUT MOST OF THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE EXPRESSED AND/ OR BEEN THERE FOR HER IN THIS EVENT...we know the lingo and we know THE TRUTH of these matters....it is the public in general who do not; thusly, we prove to try and guide them to research available to determine if indeed it is truth or lies and corruption.]
Â
Any problem with this process?
Â
Thank you.
Will a portion of your donations to this tragedy go to help fund the WATCHTOWER BIBLE TRACT SOCIETY in the settlement amount now being appealed; CANDACE CONTI 28 MIL. AWARDED LAWSUIT?

Motion Filed by The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, Inc., a Corporation, The North</form>

Â
Summary
If the court does not grant the property substitution, the WTS want the bond to be reduced to compensatory damages only. This, the WTS argue, is to minimize the bond premiums which the Plaintiff would be liable for if they won the appeal. They also think that the punitive damages part is more susceptible to reversal.
Â
The rest is kind of as I suspected:
The $86,000 premium on the bond is annual and not refundable after December 18. Obviously, if the appeal takes two years, they'll be paying at least twice that amount, ("estimated to be $170,000 to $200,000 over the life of this appeal") hence the desire to substitute property as security instead.
Â
Patterson is currently worth over $162 million. The WTS argues that using Patterson as surety will benefit the Plaintiff because it is "more that adequate security for the prompt payment of the Amended Judgment" if she prevails on appeal, as well as relieving her of the liability of having to pay back the bond premiums if she doesn't. Despite the attractiveness of that, the Plaintiff declined to agree to the substitution.
Â
If the court granted the substitution of Patterson, the WTS understands that there would be an order in place not to sell, transfer title or encumber the property involved.

And to the Jehovah's Witnesses in these forums, and elsewhere online...
Â
how much online time, coupled with your quoted scriptures, are you counting and will be turning in on your publishers cards? I'm curious too, how much of that time is counted when sitting and conversing with 'apostates and opposers"? Isn't it a fact,....that you are allowed to count these forums as 'time spent preaching'?
Â
Shame on you for your deceptive ways here with the gracious public that came together for WHITNEY and her FAMILY. Manny of us know full well how you truly feel about most offthe public that showed up that were not JW's. Many showed up and sent well wishes who are in fact disfellowshipped, disassociated, fading out, and a host of other relations. We are not so easily fooled by your words on a "worldly forum". It's amazing how many of you crawled out off the woodwork though. I'm sure WTBTS is also amazed at how many of you utilize this machine, for all reasons and excuses.
Â
Thanks to WHITNEYS MOM, we are now all invited to learn about your religion.
Â
Why did she extend such an invite if she really didn't mean it?
Â
Just like the CATHOLIC CHURCH, PENN STATE, BOY SCOUTS,etc....the JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES TO WILL BE FULLY EXAMINED AS TO THEIR ABUSE POLICIES AND WHERE THEY SEND OFFENDERS THAT ARE KNOWN TO THE ELDERS. YOUR TIME HAS COME.
Â
Try to prepare yourselves for the inevitable exposure WHITNEYS MOM has invited us to WITNESS.
Â
Bless her heart.
Such a terrible story I feel so sad for Mrs. Heichel's family, found Holt's wife Amanda here http://fandaily.info/?p=35448 and here http://showbizdaily.net/?p=1740, poor girl
"What strange tragedy that can render even the strongest man to his knees, and make the heart so faint and kidneys despair! A life so precious, so trusting, and hopeful for a bright future.....Stolen. Ceased. This pain belongs to all. This great perversion itself fills the air, offsets the very nature of all things, sets Life off-balance, and cannot go unnoticed. The very leaves on the trees wither with mold, the earth weeps with the blood of the innocent. Even behind an angel's smile lingers the shadow of a grimace. And in the high misty attic that lies just above the cold wind, a vacuum of stale silence hovers within the grey expanse of swelling tears. No sound, no wind, no motion..........and then God cries."
J.P. Rohner
Jesus Christ (pun intended) why don't you all show some respect to an innocent victim and those that will have to live with the loss for the rest of their lives. Quit arguing about some religion and who killed who and blah blah blah. Why don't you all swap email addresses so you can argue with one another to your hearts content!
I think some here, (apostates) take this opportunity to try and bash the good name of Jehovah's Witnesses. This is no manner a religious issue. The kid irregular attendee or not, had a mental issue or breakdown. I just think that people like to take opportunities like this to bash Witnesses. Whitney was a good person, and yet it was the very fact that she was a Witness that gave her the loving personality that she had. Like many witnesses the love that they display toward one another and to their neighbor is well documented. No Witness says that they are perfect and without sin or flaws. People that come into the congregation, bring with them the bad habits and traits that they developed when they were none witnesses. It is true that some people with medical conditions come into the congregation, and find it difficult to overcome them. Thus leading them to actions that are non christian. By no means is the action of this kid considered acceptable by Jehovahs Witnesses. Nor is it acceptable to our heavenly father Jehovah. "He hates those loving violence".
Â
If we were to make this an issue about religion. Then Catholics, Baptists, Budists, Hindus, etc. etc. would not be able to stand up against critism. Look at all the years of ware and bloodshed, Catholics killing Catholics, Protestants killing protestants.....baptists murdering other baptists in the name of God. . Look at the Billions of dollars spent, on resolving cases of child abuse in the Catholic religion. Now....they do not even remove their priests from a leadership role.......they just move them on to another state or church. So that more children could be abused. It goes on and on.......!!!!
Â
This situations has nothing to do with witnesses.. However, it has everything to do with one mans sickness and obsession with a girl that did nothing wrong. Who loved life and only wanted good things for her family, friends, and neighbors.
@Getitright I totally agree with you, but please include JW in the list too. Recently 17 millions to be spent for Candace Conti's case, and a lot more to settle other cases out of the court
Its all about how the media plays it out.....wake up sheep. RIP Whitney's family. This is just like the senseless shooting at the movie theatre. We will only have the answers, and correct answers that the media deem fit for "their" broadcast. Sheep.
My condolence to Whitney's family and friends. No one deserves such violence. And murder is murder, a crime no matter who does it, religious or not. But the statement by the JW's KH really annoys me. But nothing new, just like any other companies or organizations the first thing they do is to wash their hands clean when come to such situation.
One thing about us JW's we don't hide things for anyone if J. Holt was a regular in meetings we would of said he was, to you all it doesn't matter if the person was baptized, studying or just coming to meetings because they love coming to our meetings or a irregular or an inactive even a disfellowship person everyone who associate with us automatically became a JW's, came be a JW's attend meetings regularly and do something like this and see if we will tolerate you and not turn you in ourselves.
This article is about someone who was murdered. This article is not about Jehovah's Witnesses, or any other religious group. It's extremely tasteless from both sides to use the comment section as a platform for religious debate. People have the right to practice (or dislike) whatever religion they choose. My heart goes out to everyone involved. PEACE, people! This is not a time to bicker!
I find it disturbing and completely tasteless that this "Jim" person is using someones death as a religious soapbox. Honestly, you should be ashamed of yourself! And furthermore, copying and pasting personal wedding pictures from someones facebook....ehh what is wrong with you??? Just offer your condolences and keep your mouth shut about everything else.
Interesting here is the JWs wanted to make sure that everyone knew that Holt was "Irregular" at the meetings. Obviously if he was regular he wouldn't do such a thing. At least that is what the rank and file JWs would like to think. Sadly though there is a huge problem in their congregations. Child molestation is out of control and violent crimes are happening among the JWs all the time. Research Candace Contri and see the appeal that the Watchtower is going through after being ordered to pay 17.3 million dollars due to covering up her molestation and protecting the molester. So sad that JWs do not know what is happening right under their noses.
@JwFoundJesus
Yes, not that you would know the difference between a regular and irregular witness, it's all the same to you all, but there is a difference.
you do realize things happen in ALL religions right????? And also what violent crimes? Look at the history, out of 7 million JWs there has been 15 crimes, compare that to other religions please.
@Erin Yes bad things and crimes do happen in any religion. But are you saying that JW has the least crime rate compared to other (by your own statistic as you mentioned above)? How about the child molestation cases which were covered up and settled out of the court? You won't know of course!
@Freak Regardless of what you may say was covered up and settled out of the court we have one judge and he sees everything when he's going to start his clean up he will start in the middle of those that serve him, we are not worrying about what others are doing unlike you all that sees a million thing happening in other religion and try to justified but the minute something happen in our congregation, oh my world! JW's this and that, first take care of you part and then come and comment on us. We JW's are respected by all those who really know us including the government, they know what we could do or not and when something unusual happen they also know that, canât say that for the other religions now can we?
@veruanna @Freak @Erin Veruanna...it's easy to be "Privy" when you can read the actual court documents. The WTS is paying MILLIONS!
@veruanna @Freak @Erin Yes, the Media is from SATAN...never read another newspaper or watch TV News...Satan, Satan, Satan.
Â
OMG
@Freak  @Erin Freak, and you know do you?
Â
Please, what do you know about covering child molestations? Have you been privy to those cases? Or are you only going by what the media has been saying? Or what disgruntled ex members are saying? Surely you are not naive and realize how easy it is to twist the truth?
@Erin Yes, I understand. Jehovah's Witnesses are no different than any other people. They just claim that they show more love among themselves than those in other religious organizations do. The fact that they shun others, including family members, who disagree with any of their beliefs and destroy families, shows they show less love than most Christians. Maybe the organization of Jehovah's Witness should consider what part they play in members of the same congregation failing to display love among themselves. After all, that is how Jesus said you would be able to identify his true followers: the love among themselves
Panhandlegirl
@Shopgirl  The fack that you say that shows how much you don't know us JW's, and we do show more love, wedon't claim we show it, get to know us then you can comment about JW's.
@Erin they never shunned YOU. Well, lucky you for never getting baptized into their unloving family destroying group that DOES completely shun ex-members, AND they LIE to the public and say that they don't shun ex-members. Thank GOD for the internet so people can know the TRUTH about this group.
@Erin Because you were never baptized...
my mother is a JW and a best friend who is one, i have never been shunned or never will be shunned by them. i was raised jw and catholic. I dont have a bad thing to say about Jw's they were always very kind to me. The point is THEY DO show more love amongst themselves. I have seen this. Look at Whitney she was obviously very happy in her faith
@Chris Was courious about that myself. Someone maybe got them off the wifes FB before this thing blew up and she took her page offline.. that or maybe he a member of that church.
Per the medical examiner's office, Whitney died from multiple gunshot wounds. Senseless.
@Nomad Is that posted somewhere or did I miss it in a story I read? Â
@Stephanie S. I got the information elsewhere, but the KATU.COM has just updated this on the news page.Â
 @Nomad Thank you.
He has been at my door before with another WITNESS Â and they wanted to come in and show me their BIBLE...which I obviously said NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Â I still remember them, and I live in Beaverton....do they witness all the way out here when they are from Gresham??????????? Â I do not trust any of them, and I wish there was a law to make them stop coming to people's doors.
@Karla J. Fox dear Karla,  I understand how you feel.  However, all you need to do is make it clear to them you would like to be taken off their list and they will stop coming.  The problem is, when people tell them "I'm not interested" that doesn't necessarily mean "don't come here again".  Next time they come, you can just respectfully state your wish and they will make a note on their records and will not come anymore.  Honestly, there is no need for a law to make them stop coming.  It really does stay within your powers to decide for yourself if you want to be contacted by them or not.  I do not understand however, why you feel you cannot trust any of them.
I am assuming he was married? Have not actually seen a statement on that but from this story it sounds as though he may be?
Â
@KC Yes he was married and it has been mentioned several times now. They both lived in the same apartment as Whitney...
Unless he was acting on teachings from his Church, lets leave the Religion aspect out of this. I really do not like Organized Religion of any kind, I feel that a personal relationship with your Creator or God is the way to go, not pushing anything on antone but leading by example. Lets wait until all the facts come out and then we can make judgements. This is a tradgedy for both families lets see what really happened before having a Trial by Media.
@swede760 JW's do not teach that it's okay to kill, under any circumstances.Â
@Jamin Rohner  @swede760 But it is okay let your children die because you want to honor "Jehovah" by refusing blood transfusion
@Jamin Rohner  @swede760 No, but they do teach that Jesus was just a god, and not the Almighty God, like He is.
@NiKnowZ  @Deborah W  @Jamin Rohner  @swede760 so you have the original transcripts that they were written on? if not then you can make no claim on what the real bible is about do some actual research on the subject.  All of the bibles that have been published to this date are translations of some sort or another and most versions that exist have much that has been deleted from them, so Im sure the bible you use is not a real bible NiKnowZ unless you have the original documents and speak fluently ancient greek and hebrew?  I doubt thats the case though
@NiKnowZ  @Jamin Rohner  @swede760 and the bible substanciates that claim clearly that he was the son of God if he is God they why does he pray to himself over and over for his own salvation?
@Deborah W@Jamin Rohner@swede760
The real Bible (not the corrupted one you read) plainly states the Jesus Christ is God in the flesh, died on the Cross and physically rose from the dead on the third day. The only Blood that matters is His. Welcome to the Truth.
@Deborah W  @NiKnowZ  @swede760 Jesus himself says that he does not consider himself equal to God. And we DO NOT teach that Jesus was just a god, put the Son of God and our king and Savior. We know this from years of bible study. Not sure how that compares to teaching people it's okay to kill their fellow man. And Freak, JW's do not "let their children die", as you put it. We want the BEST for them. No offense, but that statement is about as ignorant as the old understanding that blood-transfusions are the best and only option. Welcome to the 21st century.Â
@NiKnowZ  @Jamin Rohner  @swede760 The bible teaches Jesus is God's son and that almighty God is Jehovah..it's plainly stated in the bible and that's what we teach
