CORBETT, Ore. – Multnomah County Detectives are investigating a body found Sunday in a vehicle at the bottom of a ravine off the East Historic Columbia River Highway.
A hiker spotted a wrecked vehicle at the bottom of a ravine on Saturday, according to Lt. Steve Alexander with the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office. Search crews met on Sunday morning to hike down the car and investigate. When they reached the vehicle they found a man's body inside.
KATU's Erica Nochlin said the car was severely damaged. Investigators said it was there a while before it was found.
Alexander said in a news release that crews recovered the vehicle at around 5 p.m. Authorities closed the Old Columbia River Highway between Latourell Falls and Crown Point until the investigation is complete.
The body will be turned over to the medical examiner for an autopsy.
Word has it he was the first on site..
KATU.com staff "Investigators said it was there a while before it was found." C'MON, you guys!!!! "Investigators said it HAD BEEN there a while before it was found."Â
Have some respect for your profession, please!
It's sad that a man is dead, but I am glad he was finally found and his family can now know what happened to him. Not knowing is the worst kind of loss.
@The_AnnaCannard Well he did stop texting back they thought something was up..
I went to take a nice little drive today and got stopped up at Crown Point and turned around. I was frustrated because there were no signs for road work - turns out this is what happened.
@Sarbar I'm so sorry for your loss.
BOOZE!
@August100Â Â Yes, please!

@feral why don't you troll Craigslist, preferably the employment section.....
Lower the speed limit to 5 MPH and save lives, also straighten out the curves in roads
@Bert how about hands free texting..
last text sent ... cool pic right.???
Reminds me of the crash a couple weeks ago where a passing driver saw a damaged tree , went to investigate, and then saved two small children's lives who had survived the accident.
What a driver took a car to the bottom of a ravine....there must have been a road down there because cars never leave the roadway for any reason and never crash into anything but sometimes things just crash into cars without explanation....like bikes and pedestrians and trees and buildings. Maybe this ravine just rushed up on the car unexpectedly.
@Icarus He was using a GPS
@tannin
Hipster apple head.
With all of the deaths recently, I just hope it was an accident and not another homicide. RIP though.
@tptpttp Tricking someone into driving off a cliff would be an ingenious way to commit murder. They should check the car for rogue directions, like "when the road curves to the left, hit the gas and go straight" and then do a handwriting analysis.
After thorough investigation, they will conclude that it was a human body!
@KATUNews sounds suspicious
