Rescuers search for missing fisherman swept into Sandy River
Rescue crews are searching for a missing fisherman who fell into the Sandy River in the Mt. Hood National Forest.
The man has not been seen since he tried to cross the river near the Marmot Dam at around 10 a.m., according to Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. James Rhoades.
His fishing partner called 9-1-1 after he saw the man fall in the river and could not find him, Rhoades said.
Rescue crews arrived 30 to 40 minutes later. They have not found the man after an hour and a half of searching.
His name has not been released.

Wow as a kid I took chances at many times thinking I was a great swimmer and invincible. Now older and wiser and knowing how cold kills your ability to move I always where an inflatable life jacket as a minimum. Better yet a regular one in case you hit your head.
The Sandy River takes as readily as it gives. If this man died, at least he died fishing. My father and I used to fish that river but I'm personally about as likely to catch bigfoot. Careful, dad.
