Reward offered in search for armed robbery suspect

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland police and Crime Stoppers of Oregon are asking for the public’s help identifying an armed robbery suspect.

Police said the man robbed a Plaid Pantry store, located at 6010 N.E. Halsey Street, just before 1 a.m. on Feb. 21.

The suspect approached the register with some candy bars. As the clerk rang up the candy, the man pulled out a handgun and demanded money, police said. When the clerk opened the register, the suspect reached over the counter and pulled out some cash. He then ran out of the store.

The clerk was not hurt during the robbery.

The suspect is a black man in his 40s who is 5-foot-8 and about 190 pounds, police said.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest in the case. Plaid Pantry is also offering its own $1,000 reward, but tipsters cannot remain anonymous, police said.
