PORTLAND, Ore. -- A suspect returned to the Fred Meyer store he tried to rob to pick up a prescription from the pharmacy, Portland Police say.
According to a press release, loss prevention officers for the store on Southeast Division stopped the man around 3 p.m. Monday.
Police on Tuesday identified the suspect as 23-year-old Derek Damion Leigh. He faces two counts of second-degree robbery.
Employees told police Leigh got away by pulling out what appeared to be a handgun and then ran out of the store.
It might have been a successful getaway, but Leigh came back. Police said he walked back into the store, went to the pharmacy, picked up a prescription and ran out of the store again.
After a brief search, officers arrested Leigh at Southeast 146th Avenue and Mill Street. Leigh had a replica gun police believe was used in the original getaway.
