MOLALLA, Ore. – Two people were in a car that drove off a 30-foot cliff before hitting some rocks and eventually landing in the Molalla River on Saturday night.

Police haven’t said who the people were or what their conditions are.

Crews arrived on the scene just after midnight and found the car upside down in the river seven miles east of the intersection with Dickey Prairie Road.

They found two men on top of the car, one of whom was the driver and one who wasn’t involved in the crash.

The female passenger got out and swam to shore after the crash. Two people who were passing by waded across the river and helped her while they waited for crews to arrive.

Rescue crews had to use rope teams to get those involved back up the cliff.

Deputies are still investigating what caused the crash.
