MARION COUNTY, Ore. – A man who police were searching for after a domestic disturbance call earlier this week has turned himself in to police in Springfield, the Marion County Sheriff's Office said Thursday.

The Marion County SWAT team was sent in after a domestic disturbance call got ugly Tuesday morning, deputies said.

But hours later after searching the home in the 4700 block of Lancaster Drive NE, they found that the suspect, Sir Diamond Damien Gipson, 20, was not inside.

Marion County deputies said Thursday that Gipson is being transported to the Marion County Jail where he will be booked on fourth-degree assault and menacing charges.

On Tuesday, deputies responded to the domestic disturbance call at about 8:30 a.m. They talked to the alleged victim and her child, and decided to arrest Gipson.

While they were investigating, deputies learned he had a gun. He refused to leave the home, so the SWAT team was called in.

Nearby residences were evacuated during the incident, deputies said. The woman and the child are safe.
