Deputies: Woman, drunk in court, rats out father; both arrested

SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Authorities say a Salem woman accused of driving under the influence arrived in court Friday with a blood-alcohol content of .43 percent — more than five times the legal limit.
Marion County sheriff's office spokesman Don Thomson said the judge ordered 36-year-old Stacy Weigart to take the breath test after noticing she was intoxicated. The judge ordered her to be jailed for breaking an earlier release agreement.
As a deputy escorted Weigart to jail, the woman mentioned that her father had driven her to court and he had a warrant out for his arrest — also for driving under the influence.
Thomson says 63-year-old Daniel Weigart was arrested in the parking lot.
My guess is that the headline is misleading and that this woman did not "rat out" her father. The officer escorting her to jail most probably asked her how she got to court, thinking that if she had driven to court, that she could be cited for another DUI. She most likely answered that her father had driven and was waiting for her in the parking lot. The officer then may have said he would go out to the father's car to tell him that his daughter was taken into custody and wouldn't be going home with him. The daughter probably let it slip out that her father probably wouldn't like being approached by a police officer because there was an old warrant for his arrest. [It is important to remember that her BAC was .43% so she most likely wasn't thinking clearly about what she was saying]. The foregoing may not have been exactly how her revealing her father's outstanding warrant occurred, but i bet it was close to how it occurred. You just cannot believe everything you read in the media, and in particular a headline, which is often not written by the author of the article/story. i would not assume in this case that the daughter intentionally ratted out her father; it may have been more an inadvertent slip.
Sad thing is, he was generous enough to drive her to court and then she rats him out, bummer...

She didnt get her way... So she had to bring some else down with her. Yeah, he had a warrent out for his arrest and whatnot. But she snitched her dad out because she was upset.Â
You just don't get it, do you? What is important is what you do, not who knows about it or how it was revealed. Yeah, she's got real issues, but if her dad didn't have the warrant (that's WARRANT, not "warrent) outstanding, she wouldn't have had anything to say, now, would she?
Nothing like ratting out Daddy!Â
