School bus hits car from behind
SALEM, Ore. - A driver who slowed down behind a school bus got rear-ended by another school bus Wednesday morning.
Neither driver and none of the 48 children on board the second bus were injured, although the kids were late to class at Lamb Elementary School.
The sheriff's office responded to the crash just after 8:30 a.m.
Sr. Deputy Skip Lumley found a Salem-Keizer School District bus on Cordon Road in Salem with front-end damage and a 2004 Honda sedan with rear-end damage. Skid marks, debris and broken glass littered the roadway around the crash scene.
Lumley's initial investigation found that the driver of the Honda, Randy Najera, 33, of Salem had slowed behind a school bus that was turning left off Cordon Road. As the bus turned and Najera started to drive on, a second bus hit his car from behind.
The driver of that bus, 25-year-old Stephen Armenta, told the deputy he noticed the Honda slowed in front of him but wasn't able to stop before hitting it. Skid marks at the scene suggest Armenta hit the brakes before impact, the sheriff's office said.
The sheriff's investigation is not complete at this time. No citations have been issued.
Salem-Keizer School officials responded to the scene to conduct their own inquiry into the crash.
Did the bus get suspended for sexual harassment? It's not nice to smack someone on the behind.
Looks like the state will by purchasing this person a new car and or repairs to the car.
Another failed attempt at building an accordion on wheels. Oh well, better luck next time!
Funny... a newburg student was arrested for the same thing.
Distraction and inattention have consequences!
Why does the article keep talking about what the accord did when it has absolutely nothing to do with the incident.  Fact is the bus driver was speeding and not paying attention and that is the only reason for the collision. Â
@subarulz and how are you so sure that you are going to say it was FACT that the bus was speeding....unless you were there and watched it happen, you would have absolutely no way to know that. At most the bus was following too closely......but unless you were actually there, quit making assumptions

I'm thankful no one was hurt.
