Sea turtles wash ashore on the Oregon coast

SEASIDE, Ore. - Strong winds pushed two sea turtles ashore along the Oregon coast and they're now struggling to survive.
One was found on the beach in Seaside and the other was found in Gearhart. The Seaside Aquarium is caring for them.
According to the folks at the aquarium, it would be remarkable if two sea turtles washed ashore in a year, so two in one day is pretty much unheard of.
The turtles are being treated for hypothermia. It's unknown at this point whether they will survive.
Are they getting ready to shoot another Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Movie on the Oregon Coast?
@swede760 So those politically correct media liberals are forcing "diversity" down our throats by adding two ethnic sea-turtles to the good old-fashioned American turtle cast of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" are they?
Just Two? Ck this report out....how about 67 in four days

@Tyler Van Pelt Those were on the east coast.,  The article says it is rare for 2 sea turtles to show up on the Oregon coast in one day. Â
I did some turtle rescue in Texas. Â Turtles are disappearing so fast from the planet, just like wild parrots are, due to human greed and selfishness.
I sure hope they survive. Their numbers decrease weekly and there aren't enough offspring hatching/surviving to replace them. Â (not to mention how many adults are lost to fishing nets) Anyone going to the beach? Please keep your eyes peeled for turtles!
These careless turtles should have to pay for their own rescue.
Guess I'm to stupid to understand how a sea turtle gets hypothermia. Hope they survive, though.
@Lips Finally a post i can agree with you on.
@Lips They are from tropical waters and got way off course. But you are correct - they are cold blooded animals so it does seem weird that they could get hypothermia. Maybe their blood is like honey and hardens up when it is colder.

@Lips ~  That's not stupid, Lips...  I think I've read that they can suffer from hypothermia when they're washed up out of the warmer water that they usually stay in... the air on land, especially with the winds the way they have been, may be a lot colder than what they're accustomed to.. and lately, even the sand on the beach wouldn't be very warm...  poor turtles... I sure hope they make it..!  Â
@margay1 Ah, so they're California turtles. Thanks, Margay.
Michael Jackson would kill for that nose.
Hope they make it. But if not, there are some great cooter stew recipes on the internet.
Oh, I like turtles... sure hope the can save these 2..! Â
I like turtles.
