Search on for mushroom picker missing in Wash.
RANDLE, Wash. -- Search and rescue crews set out again Monday morning to look for a 79-year-old Tacoma man who became separated from his family while picking mushrooms on Sunday.
Lewis County sheriff Chief Deputy Stacy Brown said the family was off of Forest Service Road 26 about 10 miles south of Randle when they last saw the man about 10:30 a.m.
They waited for him at their car and searched for several hours before calling police Sunday afternoon.
Brown said the man had a backpack with water but was not equipped to spend the night outdoors, where overnight temperatures dropped to about 32 degrees.
The man's family said he is an experienced hiker who does not suffer from any medical conditions that might have caused him to go missing. His name has not been released.
Members of Packwood Search and Rescue and Cascade Dogs searched until midnight and the search resumed Monday with additional personnel.
He might've been sampling them on the way and now he's off chasing purple unicorns and watching the trees breathe. Come home safe!
His family must be sick with worry. I hope he is found quickly and has somehow miraculously survived the cold night temperatures.

 "An experienced hiker" would have packed for just this possibility. And at 79 to boot. C'mon family - be alittle more assertive. I hope they find him ok - but with no protection from the elements - it don't look good.
 @wvboy An experienced outdoors person would know how to make a shelter to spend a relatively comfortable unplanned overnight. With twigs, leaves, grass, and tree bark one can rapidly build quite a good shelter. No sleeping bag or tent needed!
