Searchers find missing father, son near Mount Bachelor
BEND, Ore. (AP) — Searchers in Central Oregon have found a father and son reported overdue after they headed out on snowmobiles toward Mount Bachelor.
KTVZ reports they were found Monday afternoon about 30 miles southwest of Bend after a night in snow cave. Dozens of searchers had been mobilized.
Family members said the two were dressed and supplied for the weather.
They were identified as 40-year-old Eric William Abney and his 13-year-old son, Chase Hunter Abney.
Don't people ever read the articles....THEY WERE FOUND! IN GOOD CONDITION!. I snowmobiled for several years in that area. Most likely they had surivival training that most snowmobile clubs give...dig a snow cave...stay where you are...you most likely will be found. With snowmobile clothing, one can be comfortable in a snowcave...temp at 32 degrees, clothing good for -30...no problem. We ALWAYS had suvival kits with us, never know when you might have a breakdown...luckily we never needed them.
Great survival instincts and techniques. Welcome home to the home fires burning.
Found how? are they ok? Hope so!
Hope they are found and are OK.
