Seaside man gets 25 years for sexually abusing 12-year-old
SEASIDE, Ore. (AP) — A Seaside man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl.
The Daily Astorian reports that 40-year-old Jeffrey Charles Smith pleaded guilty to 8 counts of sodomy and was sentenced Tuesday by Clatsop County Circuit Court Judge Philip Nelson.
The sentence does not allow for parole. As part of his sentencing Smith is subject to post-prison supervision and not allowed to have contact with the victim. He will also be registered as a sex offender.
Nelson told Smith the victim will struggle with the effects of the crime, which he called "a train wreck for kids that have gone through this type of traumatic experience."
And whack off his tallywhacker, cuz he ain't gonna need it no more.
Make it so he dribbles on himself when he pees.
Of course, while he will have to 'register as a sex offender', only the police will be able to see where he is; anyone with children isn't so entitled in Oregon.
At least when he gets out at 65, he will be able to collect social security and retire. Â But in prison, child sex offenders are at the bottom of the food chain.
 @RandyH No he won't.  He won't have been paying in to Social Security to meet the terms.  He will need to work and pay into Social Security within five years of taking it and he has to satisfy that he has met the terms of paying in to Social Security once he turns 21.  That means he won't be able to collect until he's worked and paid in to SS at least five years after he gets out of jail.
I'm hoping he doesn't reoffend, his 25 year sentence can't change what happened, but hopefully gives him some time to reconsider what he's done.

No penalty is severe enough to match the pain and damage he has inflicted on a child. There is no rehabilitation for an individual who can cross a line and commit such an act as unspeakable as this. My heart aches for the 12 year old child whom I can only hope and pray is surrounded by people that provide love and safety.
The guys like this should b castrated before they serve there prison term!
I realize this is probably one of the better sentences for a child molester, that has been handed down recently. However I still think that after conviction they should be shot...
all prison cells should have in them beside a bed sink and toilet is a hook in the ceiling with a rope and a shaky stool. let the criminal decide what to do with those three items.

A deserted island for life with no supplies "DOG EAT DOG" is where they should dump people like this who hurts children!
25 years just doesn't seem long enough, or a hard enough sentence.Â
My view - as it has been with these types of crimes - chemical castration, or the real deal. Make it permanent so these men cannot inflict harm on anyone else!
 @washcomom for most of these animals its not about sex its about control and hurting another person, castration wouldn't work however a bullet to the head will keep them from ever harming another person.
 @washcomom Castration just isn't enough.  He needs to lose the weapon he used to commit the crime.

I think if someone is guilty of crimes like this they should get to spend some time with the kids Dad, and then let the courts have him. If something like this ever happened to my kid I would be a lot harder on him than the courts.

The story didn't say that and I think it would have, but I didn't think about that either.

I mean if dad is the monster, let them choose a "foster dad". Maybe someone I dunno, like a MMA dude, or a celebrity who gets to use their most famous "tool" (axe, hammer, gun etc you get the idea).
