HOOD RIVER, Ore. – An 18-year-old man who was critically injured in a crash on Interstate 84 early Thursday morning died at a hospital, state police said.
Eric Tyler Smith, 18, of Portland, was the second man to die after the crash about seven miles west of Hood River. Police said Smith was not wearing a seat belt during the crash. He was taken to a hospital where he later died.
The driver, 18-year-old Timmy Truang of Portland, died in the crash.
A witness told police the car nearly rear-ended a commercial truck and trailer when Truang lost control of the car and crashed into the back of a semi truck that was parked at a weigh station.
Police said Truang was wearing a seat belt.
