PORTLAND, Ore. – The Sellwood Bridge will be closed to drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians until Friday so crews can install concrete girders.
They will put the girders on the east approach to the new bridge.
Crews closed the bridge Tuesday night.
Highway 43 will remain open during the closure. The Ross Island Bridge is the northern detour for drivers. Highway 99E and the Abernethy Bridge are also designated detours.
The Hawthorne Bridge is an alternate route for bicyclists.
Traffic is expected to be heavy on detour routes, so you should probably give yourself some extra time before you hit the road.
