Clint Heichel: 'She didn't deserve it. She didn't do anything wrong'
GRESHAM, Ore. - A weary Clint Heichel carefully moves the candles burning outside his apartment door in Gresham, arranging them and gently folding in the wax ears.
"I've tried to keep them lit. It was so nice that they set this up in the apartment complex," he said, adding that the wind sometimes blows out the candles. "I came home to it and it was there. I really appreciate that and I think she'd like that too."
Police announced Friday night that they had found the body of his wife, 21-year-old Whitney Heichel, on Larch Mountain and had made an arrest in the case.

Jonathan Daniel Holt, 24, of Gresham, is charged with aggravated murder and sexual assault. He is due in court Monday afternoon.
Over the weekend, ABC News spent time with Clint as he returned to his apartment and talked to a reporter by the impromptu memorial, which included candles, flowers, and a placard signed by neighbors and friends that had been tacked up next to his door.
Clearly exhausted, Heichel said he sometimes struggles to maintain composure.
"Just trying to maintain without having a mental breakdown. Everybody's been very nice. A lot of appreciation for that," he said while crouched close to the candles and flowers. "It's very difficult to... hold up."
"I got a year and nine months with my wife. I try to keep myself distracted but ... it's very hard ... and sometimes it gets really bad because she was just a beautiful little person and just full of love and she was a ray of light to everybody."
Heichel said he was not able to go to a memorial event for Whitney at a Starbucks but appreciated it. Whitney worked at a local Starbucks location.
Heichel had nothing but praise and appreciation for those who helped look for his wife and quickly made an arrest in the case. "The exposure was awesome and they worked with me to do the best they could to get that out," he said.
He thanked search and rescue workers, detectives, Gresham Police, family and friends.
"There's so many people who won't get a personal thanks from me and I wish I could give them a personal thanks. It's very difficult," he said. "Waking up is hard. This morning I lost it. Last night, I lost it"
"It's completely unfair to me. It's even more unfair to her," he said "She didn't deserve it. She didn't do anything wrong."
He said photos of Whitney always showed her smiling and happy. "Just a beautiful little person, and that's exactly why I married her, because she was just a ray of sunshine to everybody."
"She was also so nice. She just loved people. That's why it's so hard, because she didn't do anything to deserve this. It's just "why?" he added. "That's the only question: why?"

Perhaps you have room in your congregation for her?
So sorry for your loss, Clint. I can tell by all the pictures I have seen that she was very special. Sometimes it is hard to understand why anyone would want to take another life of a human. They obviously did not know her well enough and appreciate her or her life. Although some of us know we are living in 'the last days' soon to end it is very hard. Stay close to the congregation and to our God Jehovah. I have an emotional lump in my throat and I can't think straight sometimes. We're all in this together.Â

Â
Authorities in Oregon arrested a 50-year old woman for repeatedly raping her two children 10 years ago when they were 5 and 11.
The victims filed a complaint with police in Portland and their mother, Angela Montgomery, surrendered to the Murfreesboro Police Department last month after an eight-month investigation.
Â
The victims, now 21 and 15, were able to provide detectives with detailed statements about the rapes and sexual assaults that took place at their South Kings Highway home.
The suspect, who surrendered to police on August 21, was charged with two counts of rape. Authorities said more charges are still pending.
In now unsealed police warrants, the documents show that Jonathan Holt (Jehovah's Witness) who has confessed to murdering Whitney Heichel of Gresham, Oregon, (also a Jehovah's Witness) had guns and child porn.  Details are in the following.  http://www.kgw.com/news/local/Docs-Holt-had-guns-child-porn-and-stolen-iPhone-176052031.html

FOR MURDERING JEHOVAH'S WITNESS WOMAN
Police arrested Jonathan Holt -- whom the The Oregonian newspaper in the following link identifies as a Jehovah's Witness -- for the alleged murder of Whitney Heichel, also a Jehovah's Witness.Â

Â
Gresham, Oregonâs Watchtower congregation not only has had Whitney Heichel murdered by Jonathan Holt (both JWs) but Angela Montgomery (50, ex-pioneer) reportedly lives within 2 miles of the Heichels and went to the same hall.  Sheâs been charged by Tennessee police (Murfreesboro) with abusing her own children.  http://ex-jw.com/tragedy-in-gresham-oregon
Why are you trying so hard in avoiding the inevitable? And why are you instructing humans to not listen to all sides of an issue, and THEN decide its merits? Ms. RITMILLER has invited us and all to learn more. What is your major problem with people learning about this religion?Â
Â
Why do you not want this information known to your fellow congregants? How will you answer any householder now when they inquire about the "WHTNEY CASE", and all the related material they read regarding your organizations teachings and policies?
Â
No Jehovah's Witness has answered my earlier question either:
Â
Why is it that you never discuss the deeper doctrines and policies with the householder, first? Why do you 'lovebomb' with only the promise of a new earth in the beginning, and death threats by the hand of your god JEHOVAH, if their 'heart is not in the right condition'?
Â
Please address, as Whitneys mother wants us to know.
Indeed, many unanswered questions as to what was really going on in these two families in the days and weeks leading up to this tragedy.
Â
Only Clint, John, AmandA and Wendy know/ knew. And my gut tells me, Wendys mom POSSIBLY has more information; as the night before Wendys abduction, they were talking about a very private family matter...having children.
Â
No one knows what that discussion entailed, but it's a sure bet the religions policies were discussed. It just stands to reason that the discussion could have been about even having children as a member of Jehovah's Witnesses; due to the policies and doctrinal structure enforced on each child within that religion.  cannot imagine, by looking at her, and hearing of her, that she would ever inflict this religion on her child.
Â
SOMETHING TO CONSIDER FORÂ LAW ENFORCEMENT
Clint: I am so grieved for your loss. I pray for you every day to find comfort in Jesus! He alone can help us through such an awful loss. No one deserves to go the way that your wife had too. I just can't fathom how anyone having such an evil mind. My heart goes out to you and Whitney's family. I did not know Whitney, but I followed the story and it just brought me to tears. I pray Holt gets what he deserves, and I know this, God will give him what he deserves, when it's his time to meet God!! I am thankful that you have the support of your family, friends and a close knit church. Church is very important, regardless of denomination. We all serve the same God, and he does care for each one of us, regardless what we go through.
Â
I lost my mother in a very sudden death two years ago, and I know the days were so hard, in the first few months, but time does heal, but we never forget them. But I did not lose her through a crime. That makes it so much harder. Be rest assured, I am praying for you. Look to Jesus, where all help comes from. I could not make it one day without him!! Continue to remember all your good times together. Don't ever forget her blessings. Look forward to being with her in heaven, someday. We can have hope in Jesus Christ.
many brothers and sisters will be on Friday in thoughts with you, and we wish all Jehovah's blessing,(Offenbarung_21:4)...And he will wipe every tear from their eyes, and death will no longer be, or will be more grief, still shouting, still pain... .es will soon be peace.
My dear brother.
There is no why for an amoral monster's behavior. Â If there is any sense in this horrific crime it comes in the form of knowing that he will be brought to justice and prayerfully will never see the light of day again to bring harm to anyone else.
Â
Heartfelt expressions of condolence and compassion.
I hope Clint and the rest of the family can get through this grieving in PEACE... God bless you all<3 and may holt ROT IN HELL
Nobody deserves that , except Holt.
I find it very disturbing, that one of the comments actually blamed the husband for not walking his wife out the door to her car! She probably had been doing this for awhile. This monster had a gun,new her routine, and was waiting for her. If the husband had been there, there would probably be 2 bodies. He had his sites on Whitney. If it had not  been that morning,it would have been later. He probably had been planning this for awhile. My thoughts and prayers are with Clint and family members!
Clint, the "Why" may never be answered to your satisfaction...but hopefully you will know and accept that YOU had nothing to do with it, you did not wrong. Â It is likely Holt has been looking for an opportunity to possess Whitney for whatever sick purpose he had in his head. Â He'd have found a way unless someone perceived his intent. Â May you find family, friends, and faith to lean on in the days and weeks to come. Â
Tami you are from a planet far far away in a distant galaxy where there is no empathy and you just drift from delusional cloud to delusional cloud without any consequences. Here on our planet, we truly care when our fellow humans are in inconsolable pain and we send our love and prayers with all our hearts, hoping Clint will one day be able to be happy again.
Â
Go back to your horrible planet and leave Clint alone. He is suffering more than most of us can imagine right now, and you are almost sicker to me than the psycho who murdered his wife.
Â
Was THIS attitude displayed, very christian to this person Larale?Â
You will do well to pay attention to your own self sister. That post is very disturbing, coming from one of Jehovah's Witnesses.Â
Â
Careful, you surely want the viewing public to see how indeed you are no part of this wicked system of things.
Â
Relax.
@INFORMant How do you know Larale is a Jehovah's Witness? You seem more interested in bashing Witnesses then showing this poor family the sympathy they deserve.
Â
Just as in a court of law, the mother has now "opened" the door, widely, to "learning more about us as people. as Jehovah's Witnesses". Everyones heart should be at least willing to learn widely, ALL that has to do with the Watchtower Bible Tract Society (notice, this is a book publishing corp in New York that is Jehovah's Witnesses Headquarters, as you google "JW" to learn of it's 'religion', one MUST google WTBTS to learn of its inner workings and as a non profit organization (NGO). They are NOT one in the same; as your discoveries through research will soon demonstrate this as fact.
Â
THE DOOR IS NOW WIDE OPENED TO LEARN...FULLY...OF THIS "RELIGIOUS ORGANIZATION"...THANK YOU MS. RITMILLER...I HOPE MANY TAKE YOU UP ON THIS GRACIOUS INVITATION:
Â
Ritmiller said this has been the worst of her life's tribulations but she also wrote (in reference to the Jehovah's Witness religion, which she and her family are members of):
Â
"Don't be overcome with grief. As difficult as this has been, a tremendous opportunity has opened up because people in communities around the Earth have opened their hearts wide to learning more about us as a people and the God whose name we carry."
@Larale Tami apparently has no hesitation kicking someone when they're down and out.
Mr. Heichel,
Tami Chavez is totally wrong, our lives are full of unpredictability and even though we may be safe in one neighborhood we do not know what others might be thinking or what their intentions are. We cannot always be in the right place at the right time sometimes we are unaware of the situations or what this wicked world is up to. The guy had a gun and he would have certainly killed you too and your wife. This situation was planned by the guy and he was definitely looking for opportunity and took it. If we understood peoples motives we would of planned better but, unfortunately we cannot.. It will be hard to deal with this and you have to think what your wife would of want you to do. She is in God's hands now and you have the hope of the future to see her... I am sorry and grieve with you for your loss and you know Mr. Holt will be judged by man and tried, but God will judge him in the end and right now he has no hope from God..Â
Mr.Heichel , At first i was very angry with you for not taking better care of Whitney ,after you promised you would. You were allowed to have this angel in your life yet...you let her walk out the door alone ,in the dark to start her car and go to work.Think of what was going on outside while you were snug and cozy in your bed.You made an error that is forever.I can only hope your lack of commen sense will inspire others to be more attentive to their loved ones.I want to be sorry for your pain ,but i find it hard since society in general is turning there back on your grievous error ,like it did not happen. If people choose not to hold you accountable at least hold yourself accountable and admit your mistake, instead of saying "quote" its not fair to me either. Grow up Clint.
@Tami Chavez I don't think I have ever seen such a disgusting despicable excuse for a human being as you. You have showed the whole world what evil is. Evil is you.
@Tami Chavez So you are suggesting that this is Clints fault bc in your ignorant mind, he was neglecting his wife bc he didn't escort her to her vehicle (therefore meaning, he didn't love her) in the morning during her NORMAL routine?! Right, and it's Clints fault that this whack job, Holt, had a sick obsession with his wife? He probably fed and encouraged his obsession right? (sarcasm)
Why did Clint even let his wife out of the house.... and let her be kind to ppl... and let her have a job......oh, and let her be around men in public?
What the hell kind of person are you?Â
You had the opportunity and were allowed to comment here and you blew it big time. Grow up Tami. Hold yourself accountable for your embarrassing remark. Grab a dunce cap and go sit in the corner.
Â
Well Tami you succeded, you did your trolling job  "clap clap" . Now forgive me but either you have tourettes or you just may seriously need a reality check. I am hoping that you are mentally ill and not as you so beautifully stated a "grievous error" by your parents. Have not been so disgusted in a long time you should really really take a look on your humanity meter you maybe almost empty. Â
@AJ1979  Folks with Tourettes are more sensitive than Tami is...
Â
@Tami Chavez You must be the highest maintenance chick on the planet, get some independence please, no one wants to treat you like a baby who can't do anything on their own.
Â
You are a bad person.
@Tami Chavez Damn! You give a whole new meaning to the term"TROLL"! If your way of thinking is "perfect" as you seem to think, thank God I am a sinning unperfect human. At least there is hope for the ones of us that admit we are wrong when we say something in the spur of the moment when angry, but, my friend, you seem to just keep going and are determined to show stuborn ignorance to the end.I feel sorry for anyone that lives with you!
damn this system of posting; can't edit your own posts when you make a mistake.
I do not know why I used the word"friend"; more like "fiend"
@Tami Chavez ~  Tami, do you honestly believe that Whitney's husband has not asked himself a million times over what he could / should have done that would have prevented the cold-blooded kidnapping and murder of his wife?   Why are you so intent on kicking someone when they're already down?   What would you have had Clint do; follow Whitney around 24/7 with a loaded shotgun in his hands?   Do you think either of them would have wanted to live like that?  And what if Clint HAD walked Whitney to her car that morning; had been there when Holt asked her for a ride... what makes you think that Clint would have raised an objection?Â
Â
Holt was known to both Whitney and Clint; even if not the closest of friends, he was a neighbor and a member of their church; Whitney and Clint took care of Holt's cats and plants when the Holts were away. Holt had presented no previous threat; they had no apparent reason to think that he intended to harm Whitney.  Â
Â
The one and ONLY person responsible for what happened to Whitney was the person who kidnapped, attacked and killed her... period. Â It appears, at least so far, that the DA has charged the right person, and hopefully, they will be able to prove their case, beyond a reasonable doubt, in court.Â
Â
Let Clint Heichel grieve in peace. Â Â
@Tami Chavez Either you are extremely insensitive or just plain ignorant! There are many husbands that let their wives walk out to their car in an area that is very safe. Shame on you Tami for saying such things to a man who has lost the most valuable person to him. I hope that you can grow to become a more sensitive person.
Â
@Tami Chavez Why on earth are you saying this crap?  A determined killer with an obvious obsession would have found a way, no matter what, and Holt looks to fit that description.  Walking her to the car would not have stopped Holt.  Being IN it with her might not have stopped Holt who had a gun.  Jeeezzz you are one cold and nasty person aren't you?Â
@Tami Chavez You are a moron.  Plain and simple.
@Tami Chavez Wow that was cruel!! Do you walk your loved ones out to their car every single time?? Or drive them where ever they need to go? We can't watch our families ever second of the day!! I am shocked at the thoughtlessness of that comment. You don't need to add to his pain. Even though this situation was NOT his fault, I'm sure he is hard enough on himself. Now he needs support, not accusations! Shame on you!Â
@Tami Chavez Tami you are from a planet far far away in a distant galaxy where there is no empathy and you just drift from delusional cloud to delusional cloud without any consequences.
@Tami Chavez You're WAY off base.  Go find somewhere else to post your male-hating diatribe you troll!
Â
@Tami ChavezI can't believe some people have the tenacity to post something hurtful like this about the husband. My husband doesn't walk me to my car every morning! Even if he walked her to the car, and Holt came out and asked for a ride, it may have not changed the outcome. How dare you blame the husband when there is a sick man sitting in jail admitting to a murder. Did you fail to see there was a sick man obsessing over her pretending to be a normal neighbor? You seem to be ignoring the real problem here. SICK.
@Tami Chavez How can you blame her husband for this? He lost his wife and feels terrible! Nobody knew except for the murderer what was about to happen to her! I pray for you to grow up and not blame people's loved ones for not taking better care of them when tragedys like this happens. I also pray for Clint and his family through their great loss that he would have never wanted to happen. Â
Â
@Tami Chavez You are a SICK person if you think this is Clint's fault!
@Tami Chavez How dare you make this Clint's fault! Â
Encouraging story of another family who went through tragedy and how they coped.... Whitney's belief was the same as theirs and I have no doubt that she would want others to look into her beliefs and the truth behind them.....including her scriptural belief in the resurrection to a paradise on earth, which now she will personally benefit from.

@Danielle  I can't help but notice that the Elders in Whitney's congregation tried to use this as a witnessing tool. That all backfired when we found out it was one of your own. Don't try to use this as publicity for your religion, please. Have some respect for us that are just here for the news.
I adamantly agree, but one can conceive the notion... that "Murder" is the "MOST SELFISH ACT" that any person can commit.....
Â
He shall be judged by a power HIGHER than anyone here on earth... To me & to the Heichel family" & everyone else subsequently.... maybe.... just maybe.... this shall offer "Some Measure" of justice...
Â
Stay strong in faith Clint.. W H I T N E Y ' s counting on you now... more than you'll ever know.......
Â
Dear Mr. Heichel, I know you feel lost and alone - and maybe like your heart is melting. I pray that this poem ministers to you and gives you renewed hope.Â
Â
One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the LORD.
Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonging to him, and the other to the LORD.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered him and he questioned the LORD about it:
"LORD, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me."
The LORD replied:
"My son, my precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."
Â
May God keep you and strengthen you, Mr. Heichel.
My heart just breaks for you. I'm so sorry for your loss, nothing can make it better and there is no reasonable answer to why....God bless you Clint. Keeping you in my prayers.
Rest In Peace Beautiful Whitney<3
Â
Mr. Heichel, I am so very sorry for your loss. I remember Whitney helping me at starbucks, and even though I didn't know her personally, she seemed to be a very sweet person. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Angela
